"Clem's not awake yet?" Luke's voice, barely audible over the clinking of plates against tables, captured the attention of few in the room.

It hadn't been long since Clementine had joined their group, and it had been only a few days since they'd hunkered down in the ski lodge with even more new additions. While tensions had softened considering Clem's connection with Kenny had snagged them a safe, new home, they were far from completely gone.

Which is maybe why upon knowledge of her lack of appearance, not many spoke.

Rebecca, similarly as back at the cabin, was skeptical. After Clem's assistance had acquired her a home to sit down and rest, Rebecca had eased off of the blatant disregard for hiding her disdain for the child. Now, she remained silently unsure of how far to trust her.

Nick was gradually beginning to warm up the girl, only ever tensing when he was forced to discard his weapon upon entering the lodge. However, her companionship had brought him a bed and a fresh meal, so he couldn't complain.

Then, there was Carlos. Carlos, above everyone, felt the most unsure of his feelings towards the girl. During his willingness to trust her with taking care of his daughter, she gave away their location to Carver; the man they had been desperately on the run from for weeks. Yet something about her gave him a vat of confidence in her abilities. Something about how she carried herself, how she cared for their lives, convinced him there was good within her.

"Normally she's awake by now." Nick claimed, just barely sticking his spoon into a can of peaches, desperate to calm his aching stomach with a meal. "Maybe she had a rough night?"

"How can a kid have a rough night?"

"Clearly you don't know what that girl's been through." Kenny chimed in quickly to Alvin, wandering into the room clutching five cans within his arms. "She's had too many rough nights. Too many for a kid her age."

"I'll go check on her." Luke claimed absentmindedly, already making his way to the stairs. Few people, too few really, in their home cared for her. So the few that did needed to go above and beyond until the others found her trustworthy.

As he was gone, the room fluttered with life. Kenny passed out cans silently, his mind a battlefield of 'what ifs' regarding the child's absence. The adults made pleasant conversation popping open their cans and digging into their breakfasts, some pouring the contents into plates and bowls, others eating urgently from cans.

All noise cut when Luke came clambering down.

"Carlos?" His voice was desperate, scuttling into the room with an urgent sense of purpose. While a handful in the room allowed their shoulders to sink, Kenny, Sarah and Carlos tensed at the panic in his voice.

Carlos released his grasp on his spoon, eyes flickering to the rest of his crew before resting on Luke. "Yes?"

"You gotta get upstairs. Now."

"What's going on?" Kenny's urgency cut off Carlos's chance to respond, the panic swelling the room prompting the exhausted stares to flicker to concern.

"Is Clementine okay?"

Luke sighed, hands messily stuffing themselves into his pockets. "She's sick. She looks really sick."
