Clementine and Luke

Idea suggested by mo3rosewhite Spoilers inside. Clementine and the rest of the group are trapped inside Carver's camp, but Luke comes to help them escape.

Clementine had been trapped in Carver’s camp for over a week now, and the only thing that her mind could ponder was where Luke had gone. He had disappeared, vanished, and the one thing Clementine wanted most in the world was to find him, just to know that he was ok.
She had just finished carting around some crates for Carver, setting them down wherever he or the others commanded. With a sigh of frustration, she collapsed onto one of the crates against the far walls of camp. Anytime she took a break however, she was on red-alert. At Carver’s, you needed to look out for yourself more than anybody else. Unfortunately, that meant that the only people who would actually look out for Clem would be people in her own group—and none of them were currently near-by.
Clementine’s sad eyes glanced up at the mid-day sky, frowning as she studied her new living space. How awful, she didn’t want to live like this. She preferred living at the ski-lodge with everyone rather than here.
“Psst.”
“Ah!” Clementine jumped, flying away from the fence and fumbling around her back pockets in search of a weapon. She managed to pull out a rock and sighed in realization.
Right, Carver had taken all their weapons.
“Who’s there?” Clementine called out, not loud enough to alert the others (who frankly wouldn’t care) but loud enough for the figure to hear her.
“Clem! Clem! Calm down!”
The rock dropped from her hands in awe upon the recognizable voice.
“L-Luke?” She asked softy, taking a step closer to the fence.
“Clem, thank the lord you’re ok! Carver didn’t do anything to hurt you, did he?” Luke’s tone quickly changed in the middle of his sentence, the thought of Carver abusing Clem in some form morphed his happiness to anger.
“I’m fine.” Clementine said sternly, trying desperately to believe that the child labour he was inflicting upon her wasn’t considered abuse. “Where have you been? You’ve been missing for weeks!” She had a sudden urge to break through the fence and smack him from his idiocy. She was worried!
“I was constantly telling Kenny that we needed to go back to the ski lodge that one day because we were drifting too far off. I didn’t want to be too far if anything happened to you. He told me to take a hike, I did. Got lost along the way too.” He gave a weak laugh as he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly.
Clementine smiled, her eyes tearing slightly. He was back, and he never gave up trying to get back.
Carefully, Luke snapped one of the wooden boards he was leaning on in half and pulled the second half away so he could get a good look at the girls face. “I missed you.” He commented with his classic smirk.
Clementine studied his face for a moment, no longer caring about the rest of the group or the chance that Carver could catch her. She could feel her vision going blurry as she slid out of the fence and stood in front of him, her happy tears blocking her vision. “I thought you were dead.” She said softly, her joy hidden under a coat of sadness in her tone.
Luke frowned upon hearing this. “Hey,” he kneeled down to Clem’s size and smiled. “I’d never leave you alone like that.” Clementine tried to laugh, but it came out as a half sob. “Clem-” Luke’s eyes grew soft as he saw her in this state, but was cut off when Clem propelled herself towards him. Luke gladly opened his arms to the young girl, and brought her in for a long warm embrace.
“Please stay with the group from now on…” Clementine mumbled through her tears and little sniffles.
Luke’s arms squeezed her a little tighter, a warm smile grazing his lips. “You got it, Clem.” His eyes finally lifted to over the fence and towards the balcony that Carver had been calling his own home, and glared when he saw a door open. Still holding Clementine, he slid against the fence and out of view, his grip tightened on the young girl.
Carver was a bad person to begin with, but if he ever did anything to hurt Clementine, he was a dead man.
“He’s not going to lay a finger on you Clem.” He growled under his breath. “I won’t let him.”
