"We cannot accept new people."

Clementine waved her hand, attempting to calm Violet's complaining. "We can't turn them away."

"Yeah we can. Easily, actually."

Clem rolled her eyes, turning to focus on the few who had stumbled upon their door. Rather, their gate. Despite her being the only one vocal in supporting them staying, Marlon was the one who stepped forward to gather more intel.

"What are your names?" He asked through the locked gate. "How should we address you?"

"I'm Sarah," the girl said, her voice soft and gentle.

"Kenny Jr." Said the other one. "What should we call you?"

Clementine's heart stopped, her jaw fell, her body went rigid. While everyone waited for her to speak, she remained frozen. Stuck. Unable to say anything.

"Clem?" Louis' hand on her right shoulder caused her to tense up rather than relax. "Clem, what's wrong?" He asked sliding in front of her, hoping to get a better look of her face.

Her gaze didn't waver from the two standing at the gate, squinting, trying to better see her. "Clem?" Sarah breathed.

"I know you," she finally managed, silencing the murmurs of her own group behind her. "I know both of you."

Without saying a word, Clementine pried the front gates of Ericson open, facing the two familiar teens head on.

Those glasses. That voice.

It was them.

Clementine didn't hesitate to throw her arms open as she watched Sarah lunge for a hug, and she didn't stop one arm from holding itself open for Duck to join in. Clementine may not have been terribly close with either of them in their youths, but in this world that didn't matter. If you saw someone ages later still alive, it was cause for a celebration.

Clementine pulled away, her tearful and awestruck eyes drinking in the sight of the two. Stopping herself from getting too emotional, she cleared her throat. "Come on in, please." She hushed. "I'll lock up the gates."

Violet, only a pace behind her, tighten the grip she had on her crossed arms. Her desire to have them removed was still present, only now slightly subdued. It was different now knowing that they were familiar faces.

"Clem, who are these people?" AJ asked, slipping forward from where he had been tucked behind Louis. Clementine had sent him back there when the figures had arrived at the gate, demanding Louis to keep him shielded until they could figure out what they wanted.

Glancing up, she shot Louis a raised eyebrow, silently questioning how AJ managed to slip past. Louis offered a weak smile. Clem crouched to AJ's level. "These are my old friends, AJ." She said softly. "They're like family I haven't seen in a long time."

AJ nodded, a peaceful smile settling on his lips. Clementine was always thankful for how adaptive AJ had shown to be. It made the constant change of their world that much easier to work with.

"Where are you guys from?" Gabe asked, pursing his lips and raising an eyebrow. "Where did you come from?" As he spoke, Mariana peered past his shoulder, trying to get a better look at the new additions to their school.
