The day of love - a day Simon never looked forward to for as long as he could remember. Waking up just before sunrise, Simon lay on his back on the bed he and Kiera shared, his free hand rubbing small circles along her bare arm while her back faced him, small breaths escaping through her nose while she slept. So beautiful.

In his other hand, his phone was facing him as he browsed the internet for Valentine's Day ideas. Make it special for her, Simon. Don't steal other people's ideas, he cursed to himself as he continued to look at his recent Google searches, nearly embarrassed for himself:

what to do with my girlfriend on valentines day

do women prefer strawberries or chocolate for valentines day

romantic places in manchester for valentines day

Fucking hell, Simon. Just do something for her. If you fuck it up today just imagine how you're going to fuck up her birthday tomorrow, he huffed, putting his phone away to think of something he could do to make things different and special for her. Don't be cliche and propose on Valentine's Day either, stupid bloke. Deciding to find an idea to branch off of, realizing that the local theater was playing her favorite movie he remembered she had said: A Star is Born.

Perfect.

Seeing that it was nearly seven a.m., he decided to want to surprise her with something he wasn't sure if she had ever experienced before or not, but he didn't want to be the first man who didn't get her flowers or breakfast in bed.

Easing up out of the bed, he made his way to the bathroom to get a change of clothes and freshen himself up before going into town. Looking at his reflection in the mirror, he sighed heavily at himself, wondering what it was Kiera saw in him - the mirror having one thing in common with Simon - they both saw his dark moments, both broken with nearly every encounter, except today. Gripping the countertop, he breathed heavily while he fought the urge to scratch his knuckles on the broken glass, forcing himself not to as not only would it wake Kiera up, but for once - in such a long fucking time - he didn't feel the desire.
