Alright, here we go! This is where things will start tying in to the new campaign release, so like I said in my important message (chapter before this one), if you do not want to know anything about the new game until the official release next week, please do not read any further!

For my readers that are aware of the new campaign, or truly don't mind about spoilers as some of you probably have gotten spoiled accidentally (thanks Twitter and TikTok! That's how it happened to me :(), please enjoy! Also, I'm trying something new for the future chapters... I'm doing separate point of views for both Simon and Kiera! Please let me know what you think!

Love, Anna <3

*

"Simon, I'm fine," Kiera sighed, her injuries sustained looked worse than what they actually were. But to Simon, even a slight mark on her was enough to make him think she was destroyed. He demanded the nurses ensured that the life growing inside of her was completely okay. Fortunately, the baby was perfectly healthy given its early stages of development, which was a relief to the both of them. "I promise. It looks worse than how it feels—"

"Love, you would react the same if it was me in your place," He arched his brow, sitting on the edge of their bed after the two hours of wait time they endured at the hospital, the two finally having a moment alone after ensuring that Baler was stable for the night, he and Simon having a long talk about the effects of what he had just done. "How does your head feel?"

"Doesn't hurt one bit."

"Least you said it first," He forced a tease, desperately wanting to relieve his own regret of not shooting the assailants himself. "That skull of yours is pretty hard to hurt, love."

He watched as she scoffed at him with a roll of her eyes, "Tell me something I don't know."

"Hard to do. You know everything." He poked, his hand resting on her knee that was under the comforter of their bed, rubbing against it with his thumb before patting her lightly, standing up to remove his shirt and toss it to the floor before he made his way to the other side of the room to turn off the lingering light before joining her in bed.

His arm was out to his side, inviting her to nestle against him as he always craved her warmth. Giving her a few moments to adjust her sore body into his side, his breath relaxing once her cheek pressed against his chest. "How'd the talk with Baler go?"

"Didn't say much," He sighed, snugging his arm tighter around her shoulders. "He's distraught. I told him that it was justified. He can't get that image out of his head, but I told him I was proud of him for making a right decision."

"I hope you know the impact you have on him, Simon."

"Let's hope it's a good one, yeah?"

"It is. He looks up to you. He barely talked to me when we got back from the hospital."

"He feels like he let you down, love." He sighed, pressing his cheek softly against her forehead.

"He didn't," She frowned, peering up to look at him only to watch him take a mental image of her face with his eyes, slowly bringing his fingers up to curl against her cheek, frowning when she winced slightly at the tender sensation against her cheekbone.

"I'm sorry, lo—" He retreated.

"No, it's okay. Just sensitive," She frowned, leaning into his touch. "What're we going to do?"

"I'm going to kill him, love. Get some rest. You need it."

Neither Simon nor Kiera had moved throughout the night, exhaustion catching up to the pair of them now that they had the chance to rest, Simon's warmth helping to keep Kiera in a deep state of sleep.
