Author's Note: This chapter may suck and is the typical filler, but I wanted to put something out to let my dedicated readers know that I didn't abandon this book! I'm currently hauling livestock across the country (literally) and have been driving almost nonstop to make it. Just in case anyone was curious, I picked up a horse in northern Kentucky and am on my way to Washington state - currently spending my last night in Montana before hitting the road again, then I go to pick up another horse in Spokane and deliver it to Las Vegas, THEN go to Texas and pick up another to take to Oklahoma, T H E N have to go to Kentucky to pick up hay for my contractor. I'm having a busy two weeks. Just know I still love you all!

Late into the night, Simon struggled to stay awake as he lay on his back, his arm folded behind his head he toyed with the keys on the remote with his free hand, huffing as even the horror movie that briefly held his interest led his eyelids to become heavier and heavier. Kiera was merely the same, except she was restless for a completely different reason - the following day made Baler's position in their family official. Meaning that not only would he carry Simon's last name as one of his own children, but he would be the first to set an example for Jacob and Evie, to be a secondary protector for not only Simon's children, but Kiera as well, to put himself through school and to have the parents he had always desired.

His head turned to glance at Kiera, laying on her side and her back facing towards him. He knew she was on the brink of sleep, but just as restless as he was except she had been restless due to the excitement of making Baler's adoption official and not just a thought. "What's going through that pretty mind, love?" Simon whispered through the darkness, his right hand gently laying on her exposed hip and his thumb beginning to rub small circles against her skin.

She breathed a giggle, "About how you can sit and watch a horror movie at two in the morning knowing the light from the TV keeps me awake."

"Says the one who fell asleep when I first put the movie on," He chuckled, gently patting her hip. "I even put on low volume and captions so I wouldn't keep you up."

He opened his arm to her when he sensed she was turning over to lay on his chest, a playful and bright smile plastering across her face, Simon knowing that she was tempted to poke at him with sarcasm. "I can't help you pick out the most boring movies that put me to sleep." She giggled.

Simon knew she usually didn't mind horror movies - tending to enjoy the fiction more than the tales based on a true story. Simon, however, liked movies based on a true story - enjoying documentaries and biographies whenever he'd find the time to base his attention to the television.

He chuckled at her taunting, pulling her closer into him while his hand kept her stray hairs from her face, feeling her nuzzle her head against him as she made herself get comfortable against him and welcoming his warmth. "I must say that this movie is pretty good."
