"You feeling okay, love?" Simon asked, pressing a kiss to the back of Kiera's head as she stood at the stove, Kimber sitting patiently at her feet as she waited for Kiera to drop a piece of the potatoes she was cutting. Simon swore that her belly had grown bigger even though it had been a week since he had been home, his hands resting on either side of her belly as he watched her slice the vegetables from over her shoulder.
"I am today at least," She hummed, smiling down at his protective hands resting on her belly. "I'm glad, though, because I've been craving crabs all week."
"Are you supposed to be eating crabs? Thought you shouldn't have seafood at all."
"Yes, babe. I'm surprised you even asked me that question considering you've been reading up on what I should and shouldn't eat." She giggled.
"It's technically seafood, so I wasn't sure. Are you sure you're okay with having to kill a crab? I can't imagine you even touching one considering your fear of anything with eight legs." He poked.
"No, dad will be doing that," She shook her head. "I'm just cutting these vegetables to take to the lodge later. Mom is picking them up after her and dad go into town. I won't even watch."
"Speaking of town, I have to run a couple of errands myself."
"Like what?"
"One of them I can't say, but I need to stop and get some things."
"Are you planning something I shouldn't know about?" She arched a brow.
"Maybe," He hummed, pressing a kiss behind her ear, waiting for her to turn her head the opposite direction before sneaking a treat that was laying on the counter to give to Kimber, Simon not yet admitting that he preferred the dog over the cat.
Although he found it rather humorous when he'd watch the cat chase the laser across the house floor, especially when Kimber would try to participate only for Church to leap towards her. "You'll like it when I come back later."
"Simon, you're not sneaky with swiping dog treats." Kiera glared playfully, catching him in the act.
"I wasn't being sneaky."
"Oh, so you didn't wait for me to turn my head before swiping a treat from the counter?"
"It was a coincidence."
"You're a terrible liar, babe."
"Nah," He shook his head, patting Kimber on the head before standing up straight, his palms returning to her belly. "You really chose the cutest puppy of the litter, yeah?"
"She was the first one to come to me. Once I held her, I was obsessed."
