"When are we supposed to be shooting off fireworks?" Baler asked Kiera as he moved to sit next to her at the outdoor patio set in her parent's backyard, shaking her leg to bounce Evie on her lap as she lovingly watched Simon hold Jacob close to him while he stood close to Johnny and Bud, clearly in the middle of a conversation.
Kiera hummed as she looked at the face of her Apple Watch, "Simon said sometime around eight."
Baler huffed, "But it's five now..."
"Just a few more hours. Are you bored?"
"...Kinda."
"I can fix that," Kiera smiled. "Hey, Simon?-"
"-No, no," Baler cut her off, opening his hands in front of him. "He's going to make me work or something. I can go help your mom with something."
"I've done sat down and got comfortable, honey!" Eva giggled from the nearby chair; her knee crossed over the opposite leg. "I was going to go ahead and cut up some fruit, but the boys over there are taking their dear sweet time grilling those burgers and hot dogs!"
"We're making sure they're done!" Johnny chimed with a smile before taking another sip from his bottle of beer.
"Don't listen to her," Bud added with a smirk. "I'm making sure the burgers are done because somebody thinks it's raw if it has just a little bit of pink in the middle!"
"Because it is, Bud!" Eva scoffed while the rest laughed.
Kiera giggled as she shook her head, using her free hand to cup her lower abdomen after a sudden, cramping pain took over and caused her to wince. "What's wrong, sweetheart?"
"Um, nothing," She sighed. "C-Can you hold her while I go to the bathroom?"
"Honey, I know that look," Eva frowned. "What's wrong?" She questioned again, except she reached for Evie when she noticed Kiera was standing up from her chair, her hand still clasped against her stomach.
