Heavy topic this chapter, if you get bothered by things like that then reconsider reading. Like seriously, proceed with caution because this shit got me choked up just imagining it.

Inasa's eyes shot open. His breathing was quick as he looked around the room. He went to get up and a pain shot through his arm.

"Inasa! Stay down buddy, your arm is messed up dude."

Inasa looked up to see his father sitting on a small chair. "Dad...I want to go home." Panic set in Inasa's eyes as the beep of the heart monitor rang through his head.

"I'm sorry but we need to stay here for a little while so that we can get you fixed up." Inasa's father told the boy who started to hyperventilate.

"Dad you know what happened last time we were in a hospital." Tears started to form in his eyes.

"I know, but we can't do anything we have to get you fixed up." Inasa's father put a hand on the boy's hand.

"You're gonna be okay..." Inasa's father said as the heart monitor next to the boy started to go crazy.

"Dad..." Inasa squeezed down on his father's arm.

"You're okay buddy, nothings gonna happen to you." His father insisted but the boy couldn't stop the thoughts from flowing through his mind.

"Is she going to be okay?! Please tell me!"

Everything around Inasa felt as if it went quiet.

The excruciatingly long beep of the heart monitor.

"Mom please! Not after all of this!"

Inasa felt his heart pumping nearly out of his chest as everything went black.

"All she ever wanted to do was live a normal life with us!"

"Mom wake up!"

A smaller Inasa walked inside his home along with his father. "Mommy!" Inasa yelled as he ran up the stairs and into his mother's arms.

"Hi sweet boy! How was your first day of school?" The woman asked as she kneeled down to the boys height.

"It was awesome!" Inasa said with a small giggle.

Inasa was 6 years old. He just finished his first day of kindergarten.

"That's great! I'm so happy to hear that." Inasa's mother giggled as the boys father neared the two.

"He did get a small complaint about behavior though. Seems like he's very competitive." Inasa's father pats the boys head as he puffs his cheeks.

"He was being mean! So I showed him I was better than him!" Inasa grinned and his mother poked him in the cheek.

"What?" Inasa asked the woman.

"Inasa, you know how I feel about your competitive nature correct?" The woman asked the boy who reluctantly nodded.

"Yeah...I'm sorry mom. I just wanna be the best at everything!" The boy grinned as he clenched his fist.

"Inasa, you can be the best while also being a good man." His mother told him, he didn't quite understand what she meant as she stood up and walked back to the couch.

The portable IV following the woman closely.

Inasa walked home from school with a big smile on his face. It was early in his first year of high school.

He walked into his home and heard coughing upstairs. This had become a normal, except this time it was more of a rough cough. Similar to a bark.
