Chapter 66: Kickoff

It was the kickoff of the game. Shoto stood as the receiver of the kickoff.

Izuku and Kota sat at the side lines completely locked into the game. Their determination radiated from them.

Shinso smiled at the two. 'Maybe Midoriya finally met his match' The boy thought to himself as the ball was sent down the field.

"AND THE KICK IS OUT!" Yamada who was returning to commentary said.

Shoto caught the ball and took a knee, leaving them at the twenty yard line.

Izuku closed his eyes and breathed in heavily. He opened them again and looked back to the offensive line. "Boy, let's do this." He said with a grin. The team all smiled back and got onto the field.

The got into a huddle. "Alright boys...we got this."

Izuku called the play and everyone set up.

He once again breathed in heavily. It was his first time actually playing a game as quarterback. If the boy hadn't studied routes so much he would be screwed, lucky for him he was a nerd at heart and memorized all of them.

"Hike!" Izuku called and Shoji threw the ball back to him.

Izuku caught it with ease and looked around the field. He noticed Shoto was being covered by Inasa. He looked at Mirio and saw he was covered as well.

'Shit...' He looked to the right and saw Kota at the other sides forty yard line.

He had completely outran the cornerback on him. Izuku cranked back his arm.

'Haven't thrown in a while but here goes nothing!' He thought to himself before shooting the ball across the field.

The crowd watched the ball soar. To everyone's surprise izuku actually overshot the ball. Kota ran even faster to catch up to it. He dove and barely caught the ball. The boy slid across the turf on his side and managed to start to roll back onto his feet. Before the boy could keep running he was tackled onto the floor.

"KOTA IZUMI WITH THE CATCH!" Yamada yelled through his loudspeaker.

U.A's side of bleachers went nuts. And izuku smiled.

Ochako and Eri jumped up and down in celebration. Before looking at eachother and giggling.

Kota put his arms in the air and pointed toward Shiketsu's end zone with a dumb grin on his face. This riled up the crowd on both sides even more as usually no one celebrated like that.

"And to add insult to injury!" Yamada didn't scream this time, he was also as surprised as the rest of the crowd.

The teams had started to run to where Kota had caught the ball. Now on the 35 yard line of Shiketsu.

Kota threw the ball to Shoji who thanked him. Kota looked at izuku who was already looking at him.

Kota nodded with a grin on his face. The arrogance that Izuku had seen Kota have in their first practice shined through again. He was locked in.

They set up the next play. The cornerbacks had switched spots, now Inasa was on Kota.

Izuku smiled, Inasa learned quickly not to underestimate new players. Even though he had switched from wide receiver to Cornerback he was still one of the best in the league.

"FIRST DOWN FOR U.A UNDERDOGS! MAYBE THEYLL HAVE TO CHANGE THAT NAME IF THEY KEEP THIS UP!" Yamada yelled.

Coach Yagi rolled his eyes with a grin on his face at the comment.

"Hike!" Izuku yelled and Shoji tossed the ball back to him.

Izuku scanned the field again and threw the ball to Shoto who ran his route perfectly and caught it for a first down.

Now inside the 20 yard line Izuku smirked. Another year another first touch down of the year with him the person throwing it. Last year was to Bakugo, this year, if all things went right, it would be Kota.

"FIRST DOWN AGAIN! IM NOT BIASED I PROMISE!" Yamada jumped up and down in the booth he was in.

Aizawa watched him from the side and sighed.

The whole team set up into a small huddle.

"Alright boys, it's looking good we got this." Izuku said to the team who were all excited. Izuku looked right at Kota.

He reminded izuku of himself. He just hoped that Kota wasn't the way he is because outside influence like izuku was.

"Alright let's go." Izuku said and everyone got into their positions.

"Hike!" Izuku called for the ball.

He looked around and saw Kota was wide open. Before he could figure out why, he saw Inasa charging at him full speed. Izuku grit his teeth as he cranked back his arm.

As he started to throw inasa tackled him to the ground. The hall went flying out of bounds and Inasa landed his full body weight on Izuku's throwing arm, which was also the arm he broke the year prior.

This time it didn't snap, but it hurt like hell.

Izuku layed under the boy who looked him in the eyes. A flag was thrown.

"I'm not letting you get away with that shit again, you piece of shit." Inasa growled at the boy who finally started to feel angry.

"Get the fuck off of me bitch." Izuku growled back as he pushed at Inasa's chest.

Kota ran up and pushed Inasa off of Izuku. The boy fell to the ground and another flag was thrown.

Kota looked at him with an angry look on his face.

"Who the hell do you think you are?!" Kota asked as he got even more angry.

He went to walk over to Inasa but Izuku grabbed the pant leg of his uniform and shook his head no. Kota grit his teeth and offered a hand to Izuku.

"There are two flags on the play, defense #2, roughing the passer. And offense #10 personal foul. These flags cancel out, the play with start at 2nd and 10." The ref said to both teams who nodded.

Inasa got up and walked toward his team, not without bumping into Kota on purpose almost knocking the boy over.

Now Kota was really angry. He was about to run after Inasa but once again Izuku stopped him.

"Don't do it bro, he does the same shit to me and last year it landed me in hot water. He's the one who broke my arm in the championship game." Izuku told the boy whose eyes widened.

Izuku was trying to make the boy calm down.

But it just made him even more angry.

Kota was determined to destroy Shiketsu.
