"Hi, lovey." Auli'i sighed, sitting down on the grass. It was slightly damp, but she didn't care. "I'm back, third year in a row. Here's a new Pua for you as promised, and a bouquet of sunflowers."

The leaves rustled in the wind, some insect was chirping in the distance but neither of those mattered more than getting to be here with you.

"Happy birthday." She added on, "I have...some news for ya." She chuckled, sniffling. Auli'i was already feeling the tears brimming in her eyes. She still hates that this was all she had left of you. Buried six feet under, beneath the headstone. She exhaled slowly, but shakily trying to calm herself down. "Remember the thing we talked about before we got married?" She spoke while looking right at the stone, "We froze your embryos. And uh, recently, I talked to my parents and Lauren and my team about it...about how I'm ready to use it now to have— to have a baby."

Tears rolled off her cheeks before she knew it so she stopped talking for a bit.

"I thought they were going to shoot me down immediately and call me insane, but they were really supportive." Auli'i laughed slightly, wiping her tears away then playing with the ring on her finger. "I'm happy being alone now, it's way better than getting together with someone else knowing that it would never mean anything to me. Never more than what our relationship means to me, anyway."

She gets quiet again, looking around herself. "I'm never truly alone, you know? I have my people with me almost always. And you? Always. You're always going to be living in my heart."

"I hope you have the best day ever, hm?" She smiled, "I know I will, getting to spend some time with you always puts me in a better mood. I love you, sweet girl. I'll be back to talk to you again soon when I have updates. Maybe not gonna see me here in L.A. so often from now...but I'll definitely still be talking to you wherever."

She left after that, in a better mood than when she first got here. She just had the feeling that you were around, one way or another. Well, you let her know sometimes.

She's found the joy of being alone, but never lonely. A lot of thought went into this major decision of hers to become a single parent eventually if the IVF worked out. Auli'i says she hasn't got anymore to lose, but this...having a mini you would be a beautiful gain. You would get to live on, and she'd get to fulfill both your dreams of not just making a house into a home, but starting a family.

Auli'i meets up with Lauren at a restaurant nearby for lunch, where she revealed, "I told her about it. You know...that plan. It really feels right, so I'm gonna go for it. I want that."

"I'm excited for you. And I'll be here every step of the way." Lauren beamed.

"I know." Auli'i smiled gratefully, grabbing the menu off the table to take a look at it before they ordered their food.

Her team knew first, then she told you. Of course, her job was the reason why you knew second...technically. Going through with this plan meant that she would be taking a hiatus. And even though she was nervous about the public knowing, it had to be done. She didn't want any speculation about her break, neither did she want to just disappear from the spotlight. Both of which seemed way more nerve wracking than the truth.

An anonymous donor was used in the process, but she did go with the best option in her eyes. One that she knew you'd agree with, also the one that seemed like the best for the future baby. As long as the process felt, she found herself feeling so lucky to be surrounded by her loved ones. So lucky that she had a whole village to back her up and help her out.

On the morning of her appointment for the implantation, Lauren tagged along while her mom picked them up and drove them there. At this point, her publicist has not spoken a word about the situation as it had been agreed upon that they would only break the news of her hiatus once she was done with the procedure and was ready to tell the public. "How do you feel?"
