He sulked into his limousine where his driver waited for him. Adrien sighed and looked out the window as the car began moving down the street. He gasped when he saw Marinette rushing out the front doors of the school. She looked around frantically for him and then yelled his name.
"Stop the limousine!" Adrien exclaimed urgently.
The vehicle screeched to a stop without any questions asked and luckily there weren't any cars behind the limo. Adrien quickly apologized before getting out of it and running over to Marinette.
"What's wrong?" Adrien asked as he approached her.
Marinette panted heavily. "You... forgot... your phone," she said, handing him the device.
Adrien smiled slightly and carefully grabbed it from her delicate hands. It made him feel appreciated that Marinette would go through the trouble to return his phone to him. At least his day was lighting up a bit. "Thanks Marinette," he nodded to her.
She smiled, her face as red as a tomato. Adrien turned around and began walking away when Marinette's shaky voice called out.
"Uh... Adrien... would you, maybe, like to... have-"
"ADRIEN!" a shrill voice called out, piercing the air. Chloe came rushing over to him.
"I just wanted to see if you were okay, since you seemed so sad in class today," Chloe explained, batting her eyelashes.
"Yeah, I'm fine," Adrien pushed, trying to talk to Marinette. But Chloe wouldn't let it happen. She butted her way in front of Adrien.
"That's good. How about I, like, invite you over to my daddy's mansion. I bought a whole bunch of new clothes and you can compliment me in them!" Chloe squealed.
"No, thanks," Adrien said distastefully. He gently pushed Chloe to the side and glanced at Marinette. She stood there awkwardly with her arms crossed as she teeter-tottered back and forth on her feet.
"Whatever," Chloe hissed at Adrien, walking away. "Big mistake!"
He made eye contact with Marinette once more.
"Sorry," Adrien apologized. "What were you going to say again?"
"Just that, I was wondering... if you would... like to go get... some ice cream with me tomorrow after school?" Marinette squeaked nervously.
Adrien was about to graciously accept when he remembered something... he couldn't. He had a photoshoot right after school tomorrow. Guilt consumed his system as he sadly looked up at Marinette. His schedule had to get in the way again.
"I'm sorry, but I'm going to be busy," Adrien apologized, watching Marinette's hope drain from her blue eyes.
"Oh, okay," Marinette nodded disappointingly. She then half-smiled. "That's fine. I, uh, forgot I had something to do too. I better go," she said hurriedly. Adrien painfully watched her jog away.
He sighed and sulked back into his limousine, concluding that his day had gotten worse.
