"Look at the stars," Adrien gleamed, pointing at the sky as he and Marinette sat in the cabin at the very top of the ferris wheel.
"It's beautiful," Marinette replied quietly, looking at the wide smile plastered on his face. His eyes danced as they scanned the starry sky.
Adrien put his hand down and it accidentally landed on Marinette's.
"Sorry," he chuckled, pulling his hand away. His cheeks turned a tint of red.
Marinette fumbled with her hands, turning into a mushy mess. "I-it's okay. I liked it--UH, I mean, I didn't hate it. I'm not mad, it's totally fine-"
Adrien stared at her, blinking profusely as the gears in his head tried to decipher what the panicked girl was spitting out.
And right then, Marinette was totally wishing she hadn't taken Alya's advice of going on the ferris wheel alone with Adrien.
Alya and Nino were off playing the carnival games while Marinette was forced to suffer in her awkwardness with Adrien.
"Sorry," Adrien then spoke up.
Marinette raised an eyebrow and turned to him. "W-what?"
"For making you uncomfortable," Adrien continued, frowning sympathetically.
"What? No! I'm not uncomfortable!" Marinette quickly blurted out. "If anything, I am SO comfortable! With you by my side it is like heaven in itself!"
Marinette realized what she had said and quickly snapped her mouth shut, placing her hands over it tightly. Her face turned beet red as she watched Adrien's expression change from confused and apologetic to surprised and flattered.
He cleared his throat before speaking. "You... really think that about me?"
Marinette's hands were sweating against her skin. She didn't want to embarrass herself anymore, so she kept her hand placed firmly on her mouth.
Instead of talking, she gave a simple nod of confirmation.
Adrien's cheeks turned pink and he quickly looked away from her to ponder everything that he had just witnessed, as if he couldn't believe it.
Marinette's heart dropped deep into her chest as she watched him. She didn't notice the faint blush on his cheeks and feared that Adrien would find her creepy or unusual, even if she was sometimes.
But this was quickly ruled out as Adrien looked back up at her and smiled. Then, his hand slowly reached up and removed Marinette's hand, which was still covering her mouth, and he leaned in closer.
Marinette's heartbeat quickened as she watched the distance between their faces grow shorter.
And then his soft lips touched her skin, and he planted a gentle but meaningful kiss on her cheek.
Marinette melted instantly. Her mind was screaming. She immediately felt a mixture of emotions; surprise, excitement, overwhelming joy. Her cheeks were burning as she thought about how soft his lips were.
Luckily, the ferris wheel started moving and Marinette just had to wait 5 minutes to get off and escape Adrien so she could pass out properly.
She placed her hand over the spot on her cheek in which Adrien kissed her and smiled foolishly like a love sick kitten.
Thankfully, Adrien was just as embarrassed as she was, not knowing where such a bold move had come from.
A few silent minutes passed, both teenagers too embarrassed to speak, and the ride operator finally lowered their cabin to the ground and allowed the pair to get off. He opened the exit gate.
Marinette stood up and raced off the ride. However, before she completely disappeared from sight, she needed to assure Adrien that she was not weirded out by him or anything.
So she slid to a stop, turned around and mustered up what little bravery she had left within her.
She cupped her hands around her mouth and screamed, "THANK YOU ADRIEN AGRESTE!!!!"
As people began to point and laugh, Marinette took that as her cue to leave. She jogged all the way home, relying on pure adrenaline she obtained from the kiss.
