if you don't know what Stockholm syndrome is, it's creating a psychological alliance with your captor as a survival method. in his case, she falls in love with him.
hiccup is 21, south is 20.
south's p.o.v
it's probably about 3 am, and i'm returning home from my nightshift. it's pitch black and ther eis no one around, apart from the car coming up the opposite direction from me. i watch as the car passes me, but it U- turns, making me speed up my walking pace. I feel as though i lose the car, until I hear eavy footsteps. I don't have time to react before a large pain blossoms in the back of my head. everything goes dark.
my head is pounding. my eyes slowly flicker open, revealing the roof of some sort of car. I look to where the front seat is, seeing a man, i don't know how old, with auburn hair gripping the steering wheel.
"w-what..." I groan, holding the back of my head. he glances at the rear view mirror.
"you're awake" he says simply.
"clearly" I say on instinct. my sarcasm is a natural defence for me. I expect him to say something back, or pull over to do something to me, but he just smiles ad continues driving.
"what do you want with me?" i ask him, unable to keep the fear out of my voice. he glances at the mirror again.
"i... I don't know" he shakes his head and continues driving. I gulp, thinking he must be some sort of madman. the mirror shows his bright green eyes. they aren't crazed, nor are they devoid of emotion. he looks like he's a strange mixture of confused, scared, happy and excited. I say nothing else, curling up in hopes he won't hurt me. eventually, he pulls into the driveway of a large-ish house, stopping the car. he get's out and the opens the door a the back. I don't move, trying to stay as far away from him as i can. he simply just smiles again, and reaches through the door, gently wrapping his arms around the back of my knees and just under my shoulders. he picks me up and takes me out, closing the door with his knee. I screw my eyes shut as i tremble in fear, but his scent... it's so calming. he smells like a mix between soap and dew, like when you take a walk in the forest early in the morning and the dew amplifies the smell of the moss, earth, tree and grass. I keep my eyes closed, until i feel him set me down, then a door closes. I slowly open my eyes, and see i'm in a bedroom. there's a tv mounted on the wall with a couch in front of it, a desk against the wall near the door with colouring pencils, felt tips, paper and so many other art and writing things. the walls are a beautiful baby blue, with a few shelves on them. i'm laying on a comfortable king sized bed with light blue and white comforters. I don't really know what to do, so i just lay there, looking at the wall. time passes. after god knows how long, the door gently opens, and he walks in, holding a plate of what looks to be takeout.
"i um... i got you some food. I hope you like Chinese" he says nervously, setting the tray down on the end of the bed. I expect him to leave, but he sit's on the chair at the desk, facing me.
"w-why... why did you take me?" I try asking him again. he looks sad and thoughtful.
"i... it was a spur of the moment thing, i think. I won't hurt you, I promise. i just wanted one person to not look down on me. i'd rather someone fear me than look down on me now." i feel my heart ache for him. no, south! he bloody kidnapped you! you should be fighting your way out of here! but somehow... i can't. I could easily physically overpower him, but i don't want to. all he wanted was for someone to see him as an equal, not any lesser.
"I'm not afraid of you. you've done nothing to hurt me. I think you're just lonely. i will admit you have an awesome swing. my head really hurts" i chuckle a little. this man isn't scary at all! he's just misunderstood,
"why aren't you scared of me? i hit you round the head with a baseball bat and put you in my car. anyone else would have fought me off and called the police"
"i'm not just anyone. i know the difference between mad and sad. you won't hurt me" he let's out a small sigh.
"y-you can finish your food, then i'll take you back to where I picked you up, or i could let you call a relative to pick you up." his voice is shaky. I gently take his hand in mine. my actions confuse both of us.
"i have no one either. my parents are dead, i have no siblings or friends. only a job I hate and a tiny, dirty apartment i can barely afford. if you'd let me... i'd like to stay" he looks speechless
"you'd want to stay with the man who kidnapped you?" he's baffled.
"yeah. I think we could really help each other" he looks conflicted, before he lunges at me. I freeze in fear, but he just tackles me in a hug, quietly sobbing into my shoulder. my hear5 breaks for him again, knowing just how little affection he must have had in such a long time for him to react this way
"thank you" his voice is muffled. I gently stroke his back. he then snaps back, his eyes wide and full of sadness and fear
"no... no, wait. Stockholm syndrome. your trying to get an alliance with me to survive... no..." he wipes his hand down his face.
"no, it's not Stockholm syndrome. I genuinely want to stay with you" i say firmly. he watches me carefully.
"are you sure?" i nod.
"yes." he gives me a small smile then look to the plate of now cold food.
"i... i'll go warm this up" he takes the plate and leaves, coming back a few minutes later with the now hot food. I quickly eat it, and he just watches. I finish before long, setting the plate aside.
"I just realised. I don't know your name" he chuckles
"hiccup."
"is that an alias?"
"no, my real name is hiccup. i's awful, i know." i blink
"that's a cool name. i'm south. also not an alias" i hold my hand out, and he shakes it. we talk for a long time, talking about our pasts, where he works to afford such a lovely house (it's seven bedrooms!!!) and everything we don't even realise the sun is coming up.
"it's morning. i'll let you get some sleep" he stands up and goes to walk away, but i grasp his wrist. he turns around.
"hiccup?" he tilts his head. i yank him down and press my lips against his. he freezes, before gently sitting down an holding my cheek in his palm. i break the kiss.
"goodnight south" he whispers, smiling.
"goodnight, hiccup."
wooooooo that was terribleeeeeeee
