Hiccup is blind

Hiccup is 17, south is 17

Souths p.o.v

I approach hiccup from behind, making sure to keep my steps heavy so he can hear me. He freezes and tilts his chin down to the right, a telltale sign he's heard me and he's listening to my footsteps to figure out who I am. His face then breaks out into a grin and he turns around, stretching his hand out
"Afternoon, m'lady!" He greets cheerfully. Toothless is sat at his side. I take his outstretched hand and guide it to my shoulder. He uses his fingertips to delicately feel around my face, his green eyes looking sightlessly around my face.
"You're happy" He mores with a small smile
"Yep! I have something I want to ask you" he steps back and sits on his bed. I sit next to him
"What's up?"
"We've been dating for some time, and..."
"And what?" He asks, looking in my general direction
"I want to take you to meet my family" I bite my lip. He sighs
"South, how would your family react knowing you're dating a blind guy?"
"My family aren't big on ableism. In fact, my grandpa is deaf"
"I'd have a hard time speaking to him"
"That's true" I giggle. He chuckles
"Alright. What did you have in mind?"
"I can take you to my parents house. They're having a family dinner this weekend"
"Okay, that sounds nice." I tap my fingers in his knee, making him grin.
"Well, now that's sorted, I need to go home. I'll see you... tomorrow?" He nods
"Yeah" he reaches out and his hand lands on my breast, though he swiftly moves it up to cradle my jaw. Things like that happen. It's normal. He uses his hand to guide him to place his lips on mine. The kiss is short and sweet, and he pulls away before I want him to.
"I love you" He murmurs
"I love you too" I kiss him one last time before leaving. On the way I call my mum
"Hey mum" I say when she picks up
"Hey south. What's up?"
"I was wondering... can I bring my boyfriend to meet you?"
"You have a boyfriend?"
"Yeah. He's..." I hesitate
"He's what? Imaginary?"
"MUM! That's so rude! No, he's not imaginary. He's... blind"
"He's blind? Oh. We will make him feel right at home"
"Thanks. I'll see you this weekend?"
"See you"

The dinner

"You ready?" I ask hiccup. Toothless nudges his leg, so he pets his head. His cane is folded up, clutched in his hand.
"Yeah, I think so" I nod and open the door.
"Mum, we're here" I call out. My mum rounds the corner
"You must be hiccup!" My mum says happily, holding her hand out. Hiccup smiles
"That's me"
"Hicc, she's holding her hand out" I whisper
"Oh! Sorry"
"My fault. I should've remembered" she giggles, hiccup reaches his hand out and grips her elbow, before sliding his hand down to meet hers
"Sorry, it's easier to do that" he says sheepishly. My mum laughs
"Oh, it's fine! Don't worry" hiccup nods slowly, releasing her hand. Toothless guides him through to the living room and I show him to the sofa. My younger sister north walks in.
"Hey south, I didn't know- who's that?" She points to hiccup. Hiccup follows her voice and looks in her direction
"North, this is my boyfriend, hiccup"
"Hello, north" hiccup smiles.
"Hi" I roll my eyes but grin. North sticks around for a while
"What's the dogs name?" She asks, sitting on the sofa across from us
"His names toothless" she nods
"Can I stroke him?" She asks. Hiccup hesitates, but nods
"Sure, just make sure to not distract him, because he's on the job"
"What?" Hiccup frowns a little
"Okay, dinners ready!" My dad calls from the kitchen. I take hiccup to the dining room and get him seated. Everyone but my mom and dad are sat down at the table because they're dishing dinner
"Hiccup, I find it odd how you haven't once complimented my gorgeous sister on her makeup or clothes" north says. I choke on my water
"Uh..." hiccup looks shocked.
"North!" I shout at her.
"What? Just pointing it out" she puts her hands up in surrender
"North, he's blind, you Idiot. It clearly says it on toothless' harness" I scold her. Hiccup's blushing and looking uncomfortable. North goes pink
"Oh shit, I'm so sorry!" North gasps. Hiccup chuckles awkwardly
"It's fine. I don't look blind, and not everyone notices his harness" my mom walks in, holding hiccup's plate. She sets it down in front of him.
"Okay. Hicc, the meat is at twelve. The carrots, sweet corn and peas are at three. The potatoes and parsnips are at six, and the Yorkshire puddings are at nine" I tell him. He nods
"Right. Thanks, babe" he reaches out and finds my shoulder, before pulling me towards him so he can kiss the top of my head. North remains silent as we eat, hiccup cracking jokes with my dad about engines or something. At the end of the dinner, me and hiccup go into the living room. We tak for a while
"I need the bathroom, I'll be back" he nods. Once I finish up, I head back to the living room. I'm shocked to hear north and hiccup talking
"I am really sorry about earlier. I shouldn't've said that"
"Trust me. It's alright. I often get comments from people saying I'm faking being blind because I don't often wear sunglasses and my eyes aren't white. I'm used to it"
"Still. It was unpardonably rude"
"Hey south" hiccup says out of the blue
"How do you do that every time?" I ask, walking into the room. Hiccup chuckles lightly
"My heeding is very good. I could hear you breathing"
"How Good is your hearing?" North asks. I sit beside hiccup, cuddling back into him.
"Well, right now, I can hear toothless breathing. I can hear your dishwasher running, and I can hear the wind outside" I cannot hear any one of those things
"That's awesome"
"Yeah, it kinda is"
