Hiccup x oc oneshots

18- one day

no p.o.v

"hey astrid, look at this!" a small merman yelled to his friend, holding up a strange wood and metal thing.

"what is it?" astrid grins with a small roll of her eyes. the small boy, named hiccup for such a reason, with the missing fin from a freak fishing accident (long stroy short he got caugh on a fishing hook and was forced to rip hos tail off to get away) 

"i don't know, but it's cool" he exclaimed with the same glint in his eyes the

at he gets when he finds something from the surface. he quickly swims away to go bury it. a small backstory of the boy is that he has a very rare kind of tail, they call it a night fury tail, because of the pitch black colour. he may be small and weak, but he can swim faster than any other mermaid or merman in the entire ocean. he doesn't boast this though, and he only goes fast on his own. his friend astry has a more normal tail, known as the deadly nadder tail because of the two coloured design. 

"one day astrid, i'm gonna go up there. i can feel it" he swims in circles, the way he always does when he gets excited

"slow there, bucko. we can't, remember?" her voice softens for the smaller boy, who loses his excitement

"i know... but i will go up even for a minute. just to see what it's like" he chirped, looking determined

"okay hiccup. okay" she smiles fondly at her friend, who was doing twirls in the air. suddenly, two fish come barreling towards them. the small black one hits hiccup in the chest, while the slightly larger blue and yellow one gracefully slips past the girls waist.

"toothless!" the boy grins as the little black fish nuzzles into him. the small boy laughs.

"what have you been doing all day" he coo's at the little creature. every mermaid is given a small fish, of whom is given the task of watching out for their mermaid or merman. the fish are chosen according to the tail of the merperson, and it took a long time to find one for hiccup. 

"nothing! your dad wants you home" the small fish squeaked.

"okay! come on astrid! lets race!" the small boy took off

"hey no fair! you're faster!"

time skip

"hiccup" his dad called once he heard the small boy come crashing through the door. stoick 'the vast' haddock was a large, stocky, bright red haired man with the lesser known rumblehorn tail. his fish was the size of a dolphin, who just floated next to him with a watchful eye.

"hi dad!" the small boy greeted as he floated about. 

"we need to talk" the seriousness of the large mans voice caused him to settle down a little.

"okay?" he came to a still. watching his dad

"son... you need to stop this obsession with the surface" the large man started, causing hiccup to inwardly groan. he got this alot. 

"the surface is dangerous. its full of people who kill fish and eat them. they don't know we exist, and we want to keep it that way. you going to the surface could get us all kild, hiccup" hiccup wafted his tail lightly against the water, as he does when he is put on the spot.

"yes dad" he mumbled.

"good, now go play" the big man shooed the smaller boy off to go play.

"c'mon toothless, lets go do stuff" he grinned at the small fish, who gave a blub of agreement

"one day... one day i'll se the surface" he whispered a promise to himself. 

"one day..."
