135- missing her

So, I'm this, south gave birth to their daughter at the edge, and had to go back to berk, but hiccup needed to stay for a couple more weeks to finish saving the king of dragons.

Hiccup and south are 17, celise is a month old

Hiccup's p.o.v

"South..." there are tears on my face as I part with my wife and daughter
"I know, love. I don't want to go either, but celise has almost died at least three times, it just isn't safe for her. It's only for a few weeks"
"I could still come with you! The others don't need me that much" I plead. She smiles and shakes her head
"They need you more than they realise. Hiccup, it's all of dragon kind we're talking about. We're talking toothless, stormfly, windwalker... come and celise will be okay, won't we stoick?" She looks up at my dad.
"Of course. You'll stay with me. Nothing will happen to celise, lad. Don't worry" I gently take celise into my arms, needing to feel her warm little body against my chest. She lets it a little coo and sucks in my finger, making me smile.
"Anything for her..." I lean down and gently kiss the top of her head. I give her to my dad and wrap south in a hard hug. She buries her head in my shoulder. I'm aware of the gang behind me, but I just can't take notice of them right now. I hold my wife in my arms and lean down to kiss her. Her lips move gently against mine as she kisses me back, before pulling away. She boards the ship with windwalker and my dad (skullcrusher is at berk. My dad sailed here) and I watch the boat get smaller and smaller until I can't see it any more. I clench my fists to keep down the tears. I feel a hand in my shoulder and another, and another. One by one, the gang all offer their silent comfort.
"Thanks guys" I say shakily
"It's okay, hiccup. That's your wife, and your daughter. We understand" snotlout says. I would've been taken by surprise if I had the capacity for it right now.
"Seriously. I appreciate it." I sigh
"Come on, I'm cooking salmon today, your favourite" heather says. I shake my head
"I...I'm not hungry... I'll be in my hut" I say quietly, before walking away, hanging my head.

Fishlegs p.o.v

We watch hiccup walk away.
"I think he just needs a few days to sort things through." I say.
"Yeah. I'll cook the salmon and... and drop it off at his hut later" heather says.
"Good idea" heather cooks the salmon, and we all eat in silence. We'll all miss south and celise. Celise is so adorable, and being able to hold her was always the brightest part of our day, and south is able to make anyone smile, no matter what kind of a day they had. I finish my food and take hiccup's plate, placing a largish bowl over it and walking to his hut. I can't hear anything, so I go in. All the lights are off, but I see toothless stood upstairs, watching hiccup who is definitely asleep. Toothless croons worriedly at me, jumping down to the lower floor.
"I know, toothless. He just needs some time" I say quietly to the concerned dragon. He looks over at the crib and back at me. He wants to know where south and the baby are
"They've gone to berk, toothless. It isn't safe here" He warbles
"This is for hiccup. Wake him up in a while for me, okay?" He grunts in the way that I know he's saying that he will. I pat his head and set the food on the rack over the fire, before leaving the hut and softly closing the door behind me

3 weeks later

Astrids p.o.v

Hiccup hasn't come out of his hut all day. It's now dinner time, and we're getting worried.
"I'll go check on him" I tell everyone.
"Okay" I walk out of the clubhouse and head to his hut. I open the door. It's still dark, but I can hear him sobbing. I run up the stairs. Hiccup's blankets are strewn about the floor. He's curled up on toothless, slab, curling into said dragon while sobbing. Toothless is curled around his rider as he looks up at me with his big green eyes, pupils enlarged, worried.
"Hiccup?" I ask him quietly.
"I... I miss them... I miss them so much" he cried, hugging into his dragon
"I know, I know."
"W-What if something happened? What if they're not okay? What happens if something happens and I'm not there?" He rants. I sit next to him
"Hiccup, nothing will have happened to them" trust me."
"How?" He chokes, sobbing again. I sigh and stand up, leaving the hut and mounting stormfly
"Where are you going?" I hear fishlegs ask
"Berk. Hiccup's in the edge of a full scale meltdown. I need to get south and celise"
"Okay. Be quick" he says. I nod and fly to berk as fast as stormfly can go. I reach it at sunrise. I land outside stoicks house and pound urgently on the door. The chief answers.
"Astrid? What are you doing here?" He asks.
"It's urgent. I need south and celise to come back to dragons edge."
"What's going on?" He ushers me in
"Hiccup. He's not doing well. I found him earlier, sobbing in his hut. He's scared, he thinks that something is going to happen, and he won't be there to help. I fear that if he doesn't see them soon, he might have a full blown meltdown" I say.
"Okay. I think south and celise are still sleeping. Go wake them up" I nod and run up the stairs. Sure enough, they're both fast asleep. I start shaking south
"South, wake up" I say over and over, until she wakes up
"A-Astrid? Why are you here?" She yawns, looking at me
"It's hiccup. He needs your help" she sits up sharply
"What happened?" She scrambled out of bed and begins getting changed. I've seen her naked plenty of times (I did her oil bath when she was getting married, and I helped her give birth) so she doesn't bother to shield herself.
"He's not doing well. He's having panic attacks, and he wont eat or sleep. It's getting worse. All he does is fight the dragon hunters and stay in his hut"
"Oh gods..." She fastens her baby carrier and picks up celise, who just stays asleep. She fastens her in then runs outside, mounting windwalker who takes off, me right behind, we reach dragons edge within the hour, and we find hiccup in the same place he was before
"Here, give me celise" I say. She nods and hands me the baby, and I head into his hut
"Hiccup, someone wants to see you" I say gently. He just shakes his head. Celise babbles incoherent baby nonsense, and hiccup's head snaps up
"C-celise?" He reaches out for her, so I give her to him. He cradled her gently, still crying
"Oh my baby... daddy missed you a lot" he whispers. Celise seems content to finally be with her father again, and falls asleep in his arms. South walks in
"I heard you've been a little upset, thought you could do with seeing her" she says. He looks up at her
"Don't forget yourself. I missed you so much" he chokes
"I'll leave you with some privacy"
"Thank you Astrid" hiccup says. I nod
"Seeing you like that, hiccup, I couldn't bare it. I needed to do something" and with that, I leave

Souths p.o.v

Hiccup cradles celise in his arms, his head leaned on my shoulder
"Astrid woke me up this morning. She seemed really worried about you" I say.
"Yeah... I was just..."
"I understand hiccup. You haven't seen your daughter in three weeks. Yeah, I missed you like crazy, but at least I had celise. You didn't." He sniffs and wipes his eyes
"Yeah..."
"I love you, hiccup"
"I love you too"
"Now... is like to... catch up with you" I feel him perk up
"Oh, would you now?"
"Indeed i would. I've been... awful lonely. I can't do much with my fingers anymore, but I'm sure you could satisfy me" I trail my finger over his collarbone. He shivers
"Why don't you go give celise to fishlegs... I'm sure he misses her" he whispers huskily. I giggle and take our daughter, walking off to find fishlegs
"Hey south!" He greets
"Hey fish! Me and hiccup want to have some... private time, could you take celise?"
"Enough said, I'd love to take care of her" I laugh and hand him to her
"See ya" I wave and walk back. Hiccup is waiting by the door. As soon as it's closed, he grabs me and pins me against the wall, kissing me fervently.

"I missed this" I lay in hiccup's bare chest. He gives me a small smile
"Same. How long are you staying for?"
"I'm leaving in two days. How many lenses do you have?"
"We have four, and we're close to the fifth one."
"That's good. I hope you find the king soon."
"We will, I promise"
