"Agh!" I shout in exasperation, flopping back into the floor. Kari hops onto my stomach with a giggle
"Y'know, I really hate your father sometimes" I poke her belly, and she shrieks in laughter
"Oh, really? Why's that?" I hear hiccup's humoured voice sound. I tilt my head back, showing him leaning against the doorway with a smirk.
"Mm, no reason" he chuckles and picks kari up from off by stomach, allowing me to stand. Kari stars to cry.
"Awe, what's the matter, honey?" Hiccup's coos, gently bouncing. She struggles to get out of his arms. He sighs dramatically and places her down. She makes to run somewhere but falls, crying harder. She's not hurt herself, she's just being dramatic so I laugh lightly and pick her up again, settling her in my arms. She stops crying and just goes to sleep.
"Awe, man. If I wake her, she'll get moody, and if I don't, she won't sleep tonight" I groan. Hiccup shrugs and kneels next to me, taking her out of my arms. He sets her upright so her chin is resting on his shoulder.
"So, why do is hate me, exactly?" He quirks his eyebrow, sitting down at his desk. I laugh lightly
"I was just joking, babe. I just don't know what to get you for your birthday" he frowns
"I told you not to get me anything. You've paid up on my birthdays by giving me kari. That's enough for me" I ugh
"Well, I love the sentiment, but I'm still your wife so I still wanna get you something. You're a difficult man to shop for, hiccup" he chuckles
"So I've been told." He gently smooths his hand down kari's back. She's currently clothless apart from her diapers.
"Also, why exactly isn't she wearing any clothes?" Hiccup asks.
"Well, I tried to wrestle some on her, but she threw a fit until I just left her be." Hiccup considers this.
"Hmm, maybe we should try a different fabric. My dad said I used to do the same thing, and would only wear clothes if they were made of cotton or fur. I still don't wear anything against my skin that isn't cotton or fur." He explains. I nod.
"Alright. Well, the ones she's got are mostly linen, so we'll try cotton. I'll start making that once I've cooked dinner and cleaned the bedroom"
"Please don't say it like that. Sounds like I make you do everything" I smile, ruffling his hair. He whines at me.
"You don't make me do anything, but I don't trust your cooking so I'm making dinner"
"Hey! My cooking's Fine, Thanks!" He protests. I laugh.
"I don't doubt that, babe, but the edge has been eating potato and cabbage for the past week."
"That's just because heather left." I nod
"I know. D'you know what, if you catch me two rabbits, i can make a rabbit stew that we can have for dinner tonight and tomorrow, and I can make kari a new one-set." Hiccup raises his eyebrow
"I thought we were trying cotton"
"Hush, I'm thinking." He chuckles and rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, that sounds good. Would you catch me some rabbits?"
"You know I don't like killing animals" he sighs, but stands
"You don't have to, I'll think of something else if you don't want to do it"
"No, it's okay." He hands me a half asleep kari, pecks my lips and leaves the hut. I head upstairs and place kari in her little bed.
"Windwalker, wake her up in twenty minutes and don't let her go back to sleep, Okay girl?" I pat the top of the changewings head. She nudges me in confirmation, so I leave the hut. I head to fishlegs, knowing he is the best to help me. I knock on his hut door. He opens
"Hey south! What's up?" He leads me in.
"What did you get hiccup for his birthday? I'm not gonna tell him" I say. He glances at the door
"I wasn't too sure, so I got him a new drinking horn. He mentioned that his kept leaking" I nod
"He'll like that. I need your help. I have no idea what to get him" I lean against the wall, pinching the bridge of my nod. He contemplates
"You absolutely cannot Tell hiccup that I told you this. He told me never to tell you" I perk up.
"What is it?" Hiccup never keeps anything from me, namely because I probably already know or can easily find out anyway.
"Last night, I found hiccup in the clubhouse. It was the middle of the night, so I asked what he was doing there. He just said he was thinking. After some probing, he asked me what I think about kari" I frown, not knowing where he is going with this.
"I told him I love kari, and he asked me what I believed you thought about having another kid" I freeze
"S-So..."
"I told him that I understood, but I didn't know what you'd think"
