Hiccup is 16, south is 17.
Souths p.o.v
I'm sat on the metal green fence, my back against the taller post that holds the gate, a cigarette placed loosely between two of my fingers. I breath in the toxic chemicals, watching the smoke disperse in the air. My hood is pulled over my brown hair, hiding the piercings that line most of my right ear, with only a few on my left.
"You shouldn't do that" comes a nasally voice from a few feet away. I tilt my head and look the boy over. He's maybe 5'6, skinny. He has shaggy auburn hair and freckles to boot, which compliments his plaid green shirt, brown pants and suspenders. He's clutching a few school books in what looks to be physics, and he's wearing cute little glasses. He's adorable, so is mike at him.
"Oh? Why should I care?"
"Toxic chemicals in cigarettes can induce many health hazards" he pushes his glasses up. I chuckle and take another drag, blowing it into his face. He coughs.
"Rude" he pouts. I laugh.
"What, never seen a bad girl before?" I say, and he just raises his eyebrows.
"Course I have. I'm not dim" I laugh again
"never said you were. What's your name?"
"Hiccup haddock the third. What's yours?"
"South grimborn. Nice to meet you" I flick my cigarette to the floor, jumping off the fence and holding my hand out. He moves his books to his right arm and shakes my hand with his left.
"What're you doing out here anyway?" I ask him, moving back to sit on the fence again. He sticks his books into his bag then joins me.
"Skydiving, I case you didn't notice" he says sarcastically. I chuckle.
"Hmm. And the serious answer?" He blinks, then grins.
"Fine. I just came from physics intervention, and I'm waiting or my dad"
"I see. Smart one, you are."
"I'm sure you're smart" he says, I chuckle.
"I wouldn't count on it." He gives me a lopsided smile.
"What year are you in?" He asks me.
"First year of sixth form. You're year 9?" I guess. He looks a little offended.
"Er, no. I'm in year 11" I look him up and down again
"You're so small and cute. Hmm." He blushes and gapes at me.
"C-cute?" I laugh at his dumbfounded expression, leaning over and stroking his cheek. His blush darkens. Ha, adorable.
"Yep. 'Specially when you blush like that" I tease Him. His eyes widen, so I bring my hand back. He looks down, still blushing.
"T-thank you" she murmurs. I smile.
"Pleasure. Your dads here" I say, watching the expensive looking car pull up. He nods and jumps down, grabbing his back.
"Meet me behind the bleachers at lunch tomorrow" I say. He nods and waved goodbye, string in as his dad drives off. I jump down, grab my skateboard and skate off home, too.
Hiccup's p.o.v
"who was that?" My dad asks as he drives.
"Oh um, that's south."
"Your girlfriend?"
"No" I pinch the bridge of my nose.
"Good. Never a good idea to mix with girls like that. She's bad news" he says. I just nod, not really paying much attention to what he's saying. For the rest of the evening, I think of our brief encounter. Why does she want to meet me? I mean, we're polar opposites. She's a bad girl, I'm a nerd. Whatever. I climb into my bed, rolling myself into the sheets and letting sleep quickly consume me.
The next day
The day drags by slow, but eventually the lunch time bell rings. I shove my books into my bag and leave my classroom. The walk to the bleachers is quick and I soon arrive, seeing the obscured shape of south behind there, obviously smoking again. I walk silently and stop near her. She hasn't seen me yet as her eyes are closed.
"That's not any better than it was yesterday" I point out. She opens her eyes and smirks at me, but flicks the cigarette onto the floor and stamps on it.
"What did you wanna meet me for?" I ask. She stands up and rolls her shoulders.
"You intrigue me" she replies. I frown.
"Oh? In what way?"
"That's why I asked you here. I wanna figure you out" she takes two steps closer to me. She's now only about 2 feet away. My heart is pounding.
"What d'you wanna know?" I ask her, trying to keep my voice cool and calm, despite my pounding heart.
"Everything" she takes another step forward. So now we're less than a foot apart. My breathing picks up a little as she slips one of her arms around my waist and the other cradles my cheek, before she brings my lips against hers. The kiss is only short, maybe about 3 seconds, before she pulls away again. That wasn't my first kiss,
But I'll be damned.
"W-why did you do that?" I ask her. She takes a step back, unwinding her arms from around me.
"That was nice." She giggles. I raise my eyebrow
"That doesn't answer my question"
"Fine. I did that because I was trying to figure out how I felt about you, but I've got it down pat"
"What's your conclusion, bad girl?" I ask. She giggles again.
"I like you, book boy. You interest me"
"Then I'll be damned" I take the initiative to take a step forward and connect our lips again, joining us in a hotter kiss. This one lasts longer, until we need air"
"who knew the sweet little book boy had that in him" she murmurs.
"I am what you never expect" I reply. She nods slowly.
"Uh huh" the bell rings, and I look over, them back at her.
"I gotta go" I adjust my glasses, pulling my suspenders a little further up my shoulder.
"Awe, already?" She pouts. I chuckle
"I'm a nerd, and I have physics. No way am I missing that"
"Okay" she leans in and kisses me once more.
"See you later, book boy"
"See you later bad girl"
Hmm
