177- the passage of time

So I'm in a sad mood so I'm gonna write a chapter of sad fluff

Hiccup and south start out at 13

Hiccup's p.o.v

"Hey guys?" I say, looking around at my friends.
"What's up?"
"Isn't it weird that one day we're gonna sit here for the last time and we won't even know?" I say. Everyone goes silent. The powerboxes on the local park have been our meeting place for nine years.
"We made a pact, remember? There will be no last time." Snotlout says. His determination makes me grin
"Still. Friends forever?" I spit on my hand and hold it out. Everyone copies me, and we clasp our hands together.
"Forever" we all chant, before pulling back and laughing

1 year later

"Guys... I have to tell you something" heather says. We all look at her. Her and Dagur both look really upset
"We're being forced to move to berserk" we all gasp
"No! When?" South cries.
"Next week" Dagur says. We all crowd round and hug them.
"You'll come back and visit?"
"Of course"

10 years later

Over the next few years, the dragon riders, as we affectionately dubbed ourselves, slowly disbanded. People moved away, whether it was with their parents or for a job or school. Me and south moved together to raven point and there, we married and had two daughters and a son. Life isn't the same, and I think about the riders every day. I miss heather for her cooking, I miss fishlegs for his knowledge, snotlout for his flirts to everyone in the group, even me, Dagur for being a gay icon, Astrid for defending us, the twins for keeping things interesting. We haven't even seen north since me and south moved to raven point
"South?" I ask one day. She looks up at me from where she was cradling thyra on the sofa
"What's up?"
"I... Ive been thinking. I want to see if we can get the riders back together" her eyes widen. She shifts thyra off her lap
"Really?"
"Yeah..." she smiles
"I miss that stupid lot. Yeah, we should. I'll reach out to north, and then we begin tracking everyone down" I nod and lean over, pecking her lips. She grabs her phone and calls north, while I get onto Facebook and search everyone up. After a few hours, we find that Dagur and heather still live in beserk, snotlout stayed on berk, Astrid went to study in Britain and still lives there, the twins parted, Tuffnut lives in outcast while Ruffnut married a man named throk and went to live with him in defenders island. I create a group chat.

R: woah, am I having deja vu right now?
T: sounds about right
HH: probably. Do you all remember the powerbox
D: of course we do
HH: everyone meet there. Wednesday, 12pm.
N: dude, this is insane
S: sounds about right
T: HEY
S: sorry tuff
SL: have you not considered that maybe some of us have places to be?
HH: do you?
SL: no
HH: then quiet. Will everyone be there?
F: I will
SL: I'll be there
N: and me
S: I'm coming
R: Me and tuff will be there
T: Yeah
H: me and Dagur will come
A: I'll be coming too
I click off my phone and look up at south. She smiles at me.
"Dad!" I hear chaos say. He certainly doesn't fit his name. He's the eldest of our three kids. He's six now.
"What's up, bud?" I ask.
"I'm hungry"
"You're always hungry" I throw him a look. He grins at me, his two front teeth missing
"Yeah but... I'm hungry!" I laugh and kiss his head
"What d'you want?"
"Can I have some toast?"
"Sure" I head back to the kitchen. While I make his food, South marks Wednesday on the Callander.

Tuesday afternoon

"You guys ready?" I call out to the kids. They all join me in the hallway where the front door is
"Yep!" Chaos says. Thyra sticks her arms up at me, so I pick her up. Aletris is just pulling her shoes on. I buckle the kids into the car and we begin driving. We drive down from raven point to berk, which takes us until ten pm. I pull up outside my dads house. All three are sleeping. I slip out the car and open the back door, pulling chaos into my arms. South takes thyra and aletris, and we head to the door. My dad is waiting there
"Come put them in the spare room" he whispers. I nod and head upstairs. I set chaos down on one of the beds and gently kiss his forehead before waking downstairs. South is talking quietly to my dad having already put the girls to sleep in the spare room
"Hey dad" I say, hugging him
"It's nice ter see you, lad. It's been what, a year?"
"About that. Sorry we didn't come down sooner"
"Ah, that's alright. I'll survive" he grins.
"Well, I'm absolutely knackered. South?"
"Same. We'll see you in the morning, stoick" we head up to my old room. Of course, it hasn't changed, with the dragon wallpaper and drawing all over the walls. Me and south lay down on the bed, and I muse how this is the bed we announced our feeling on, first kissed on, and first had sex on. I wrap south in my arms and kiss the top of her head. She hums.
"I love you"
"I love you too. Now go to sleep"
"Yes ma'am" I chuckle. I can almost tell she's grinning.

Aletris clutches my hand as we walk towards the powerbox. My heart pounds when I see it. No ones there yet. I look up from it and see a person walking towards it. The woman is tall, slender, blonde hair braided over her back... Astrid!"
"It's Astrid!" I cry happily. She turns around
"Hiccup? South!" She runs forward. She first hugs me
"Oh my god!" She cries. I hug her tight, and she then Hugs south
"Guys!" I hear fishlegs shout. I turn around and see him stumbling forward, Heather and Dagur at his side. We all hug. Soon, everyone has shown up, and we all kneel to the ground, hugging each other.
"I've missed you guys" north chokes. We walk over to the powerbox. Chair sits in my lap, aletris on souths and thyra between us.
"So, what's been happening?" Tuffnut asks happily
"Well, me and south moved to raven point together and got married. Then, we had these three" I nod to the three kids. Everyone coos over them. We all talk about what we've been doing for the past 10 years that we haven't seen each other.
"Honestly, I'm surprised you two got married" heather notes, looking at me and south
"Oh?"
"Yeah, I thought hiccup had a massive crush on astrid" I burst out laughing
"As if! Sorry Astrid, but that's no better than incest"
"You wound me, hicc" we all laugh. There is a total of 7 kids here. Mine and souths, heathers and fishlegs' son Thor, ruffnut and throks daughter named martina, and tuffnuts adopted twins Alex and Adam. North is pregnant, and Astrid is married to a woman named Mala and they're waiting to be approved for adoption. Snotlout not interested in marriage or kids. I look around at the dragon riders, the people I grew up with, and I know where my heart will always lay.
