so some very small context- hiccup graduated med school a year early and is now a school nurse. that's it. (also i know full physicals aren't performed in schools, but IDGAF) and yes, i know that what hiccup does in this would never happen, but this is a story so i can do what i want.

hiccup is 21, south is 18

i only just make it into homeroom when the teacher calls me to the front. i walk up.

"this was sent through for you" she hands me a slip. i take it and read it. it's a note telling me to go to the nurses office for a physical examination, which was ordered by my doctor. i nod to the teacher.

"right. thanks" and head out towards the nurses office. i'm the only one in the hallway at this point, so the only sounds are of my echoing footsteps. i knock on the door once i reach it. i hear man call 'come in' from somewhere inside. i open the door and i see a guy sat at the desk. he turns in his chair to face me with a kind smile. dang... he's hot.

"hey1 what can i do you for?" he says cheerfully.

"er, i have this" i hand him my slip he reads it then nods.

"ah, yes. i remember now. sit down, i'll be there in a sec" he turns back around as i sit down in the cair. he then slides his chair over so he's sat in front of me.

"okay, so you're here for a physical? i assume your doctor decided it would be easiest if i preformed it. don't worry, i have done this many times." he assures me. i give him a little smile. he leans over and grabs a clipboard. i can see my school photo attatched to it. my records, i assume.

"okay... have you had a physical done before?"

"yeah"

"when was the last time?"

"roughly a year ago." he nods.

"yep, that matches, they aren't bullshitting me" i laugh at his brazen words.

"that's not very professional of you" i giggle. he shrugs.

"it's just you and me here. i'm not losing my job over one swear word"

"true"

"okay so, family history. any history of cancers, diabetes, anything else like that?"

"yeah, my family has a running diabetes problem. all the women on my mums side get it. i assume that will include me soon enough" he nods and writes it down.

"okay... any cancers?"

"my uncle had some sort of cancer in his nose. i don't know what it's called, but it cleared with some treatment and it hasn't come back"

"right. do you have any concerns yourself? even small things, like a stomach ache?" i think back to my annoying sore throat that i keep getting.

"yeah, i have a sore throat. it comes back often."

"do you know what kind?"

"no, but it makes my throat feel really tight, and i get random bouts of coughing."

"i see. i'll take a look at that in a moment. any allergies?"

"i'm allergic to codeine" he nods, writing that down too.

"okay. i'm gonna start with your vital signs. hold your arm out for me, please" i do as asked. he wraps a cuff around my upper arm and presses a button on a tiny little machine. i feel my arm get squeezed, as he watches the machine that is displaying some numbers.
