I'm listening to lean on me by bill withers and I'm actually bopping

Hiccup is 21, south is 21

"Will you be okay?" Hiccup asks, cradling my face. I crack a grin
"Hiccup, I'm going for an ultrasound, not to war. I'm going to be fine" he chuckles
"Yeah I know. I'm sorry I can't be there."
"You have work, babe. It's fine." He sighs but nods, kissing me before leaving. I lay down on the couch, and toothless joins me, nudging my slightly swollen belly with his muzzle
"Yeah buddy. There's a baby in there" I say, stroking his head. He barks at me, though not very loudly
"Yeah, I know." I scratch behind his ears. He licks under my chin, and I kiss the top of his head. Since I got pregnant, toothless has been really protective of me. He's been hiccup's best friend for so long, and now I'm carrying his baby. I guess I understand.
"C'mon, shift it buddy. I gotta go" he whines and gives me an impatient look. I just smile and slide him off be before grabbing my purse as he watches me from the sofa. I give him one last kiss on the head before heading out. The drive is short, and I soon find myself say in the waiting room.
"South haddock?" I stand, following the nurse through to the room
"How are we today?" She asks cheerfully. I smile
"Quite okay. My morning sickness is horrendous"
"Oh? I can give you some stuff for that. For now, let's check baby's ticker, eh?" She gives me an easy smile as she tells me to lay down on my back at pull my shirt up. She frowns a little at my stomach
"...how far along did you say you are?" She asks, gently pressing my stomach
"I'm about four and a half months, why?" (For reference, this is 20 weeks so half way through the pregnancy"
"From where I'm looking... I'm thinking twins" I gasp
"T-twins?" I almost burst out laughing. I should have expected this
"You don't look very surprised" she notes. Spreading the gel over my belly
"I'm a twin. It runs in my family. I could only expect this" she laughs and rubs the little stick over my belly and looks at the screen. She gasps and drops it
"Why? What happened?" I ask, worried
"Uh... the stupid things probably broke" she murmurs, reaching around and rebooting it. She does it again
"Holy shit..." she whispers. It mustn't be a good sign if the nurse is saying swear words
"What's wrong? Is my baby okay?"
"Uhm... I... can you call your husband in?"
"Is my baby okay?" I repeat in a hard voice. She nods
"Er, Yeah, baby's fine. I'm gonna... yeah just c all him in, I'll be back soon" she leaves the room. I grab my purse from the table next to me and call hiccup
"Hey south. How is the baby"
"I don't know. She told me to call you in. I could hear the heartbeat, but it didn't sound right..."
"I'm on my way. Try not to freak out, I'm sure everything is fine" I wheeze at his reassurance and hang up. The nurse walks back in, followed by two other people
"Okay, please tell me I'm not seeing things?" She places the stick back on my belly and points to the screen. It's all a mess of staticky black and white to me.
"Holy crap... I've been doing ultrasounds for 49 years and I have never once seen that..."
"CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?" I finally shout over their talking.
"We'll wait for your husband" almost straight after that, there's a knock
"Come in!" The door opens, revealing hiccup who looks frazzled and nervous.

"South! Are you okay?" He asks me.
"I'm fine. Though if no one tells me what's going on I'm going to be serving a life sentence for mass murder, I swear to god" hiccup chuckles breathily and kisses my forehead.
"Okay um... look here" the woman presses the wand in my belly and points at the screen
"There are four circles here" she points to them
"This circles are skulls. I wasn't sure why you were so big at 20 weeks, but I know now. South, you're carrying quadruplets" I freeze, and so does hiccup
"Quad... quadruplets.... four.... WHAT THE HELL" I screech. Hiccup stands up, going to do something when he faints
"Hiccup!" I yell.
"Oh gods" the nurse laughs
"This is so not funny. My husbands in the floor" I state the obvious"
"Okay Uh... lets get him in the bed" she helps me stand after wiping my belly and she and two other doctors heave hiccup's 6'1 frame into the bed. L
"We don't wanna get sued... can you slap him I wake him up" I nod and slap him. He shoots up.
"Ow! What was that for?" He pouts, rubbing his cheek
"Morning, sleeping beauty"
"I feel like I'm missing something" He says, looking around. I roll my eyes
"Yeah. You fainted"
"Fainted? Why?"
"You know how we thought I might be having twins?"
"You're having twins?" He says excitedly. I shake my head
"No... I'm having quadruplets"
"Ah... um.... I don't really know how to reply to that" I chuckle
"Anyway. Carrying quadruplets carries risks. My personal recommendation is to abort one or two of the babies."
"Yeah, that's a no. What risks?"
"The same Risks that other pregnancies carry, just higher. Bleeding and such. I need you to be prepared, because it's very rare that all four babies survive. Most likely, one or two of them is going to be miscarried" I feel my heart drop
"W-What?" Hiccup squeezes my hand
"The likelihood is that one or two of the babies will miscarry." I look down.
"Oh... how high is the chance?"
"About a 25% chance."
"Okay... we'll... we'll think this through. Thank you" hiccup leads me out of the room and to my car. Since I drive here, I drive home alone as he does. Before long, I'm back in one of his shirts and my panties
"Hiccup... what will we do? Four kids..."
"We'll figure it out" He shifts to face me, cradling my face. I tear up
"What happens if we lose one? Or two?" He sighs and gently kisses me
"To be honest, I don't know... I really don't"

15 weeks later
"That is two boys and two girls! Both sets of identical twins! Congratulations me and mrs haddock!" The midwife exclaims once the little trolley thing holding our four kids is wheeled in
"I told you it's be even" I say smugly. Hiccup thought it'd be all girls, while I knew it's be two boys and two girls. He just tuts.
"Right. Who's holding who?" The midwife says.
"Can I look?" Hiccup asks nervously. The midwife laughs
"They're your kids, mr haddock"
"Right..." he walks over and looks into the little thing. I don't even know why to call it.
"South... they're so small... awe..." he says, his eyes shining
"Can you pass me one?" He nods and picks up a random baby.
"We have them numbered from oldest to youngest in sharpie on their foot. It's boy girl boy girl" the midwife explains. I check the boys foot I'm holding. He's number three.
"Second youngest, just like me" I say. Hiccup chuckles
"Let me know when you have names picked or and we can do that"
"Okay. Thank you" we arrange ourselves. I nurse each one of them, two at a time before we end up with hiccup holding the two oldest and me holding the two youngest.
"Okay so... names..." hiccup says, looking at the two he's holding
"You name those two, I'll name these two?" He nods.
"That sounds fair" I look at the girl. She has a mop of auburn hair already. Her sister is the same. The boys both have my hair.
"Okay... my two is aletris and ash" I declare. He grins at me.
"I love it. My two are Amora and Destin." He says fondly. I smile. I know what the names mean.
"Love and determined. Damnit hicc, your names mean something" I laugh a little.
"The names you picked are beautiful, baby. I'm just not very creative" I shake my head with a smile.
"Okay so we have the girl twins aletris and amora, and the boy twins ash and destin"
"More destin." Hiccup snickers, looking down at the little boy
"Why poor destin?"
"He's the mismatched one. The other three begin with an A"
"That's true... oh crap" I chuckle. He grins
"To conclude, poor destin" I burst out laughing.
"Sure. Though... I think these four will grow up with the most loving parents"
"Most certainly"

15 years later
"Mom, dad, we're home!" All four quads yell at the same time
"Damnit kids, why do you keep doing that?" I call. I hear them all laughing. They soon emerge from the kitchen. The older two tend to gravitate toward their father, while the younger two then to gravitate towards me. I think it's the naming thing.
"Hello children" I greet them jokingly. Ash jokingly glares at me
"If I was a child, could I do this?" He suddenly surges forward and picks me up. I shriek
"Ah! Ash put me down!" I squeal. He shakes me around a bit before putting me down. The other three are laughing their heads off and hiccup comes in
"Who's screaming?"
"Ash picked mom up, and mom was screaming" destin explains. Hiccup raises his eyebrows at me
"Really, south?" I narrow my eyes at him
"Don't laugh at me, mr haddock. I will happily beat you with my wooden spoon" hiccup comically widens his eyes and gulps
"In that case, I'm outta here." He dashes back to the kitchen from whence he came. I hold my arms out and all the kids snuggle into me. It's a difficult fit, but we manage. Hiccup comes back in
"Hey, I want in!" He says defiantly. We laugh and make room for him, so it's just our big family of six cuddling non the couch
"I love you guys" hiccup says
"We love you too" they all say back, together.
