Minor context- south has type two diabetes. Which is the kind that means she needs to regulate sugars. She's hypocglycemic because of the medicine. (Low blood sugar levels) so she has to have sweets and fizzy drinks to help.

Hiccup and south are 17

Souths p.o.v

"Ugh..." I place my hand in my forehead, feeling the wave of vertigo.
"Babe?" Hiccup places his arm around my shoulders to steady me
"I... I don't..." the world spins violently, and I fall to the ground, blacking out.

Hiccup's p.o.v

"Call an ambulance!" I yell as south collapses onto the floor. I bend over her. Her pulse is racing. The emt's arrive and ask me questions
"What's her name?"
"South, south trader"
"How old is she?"
"17"
"Is she sexually active, could she be pregnant?" This makes me blush a little
"Yeah, shes sexually active, but she's on the pill. I use condoms anyway"
"So you're her boyfriend?"
"Yeah. Is she on a be okay?" I ask the woman. She smiles at me
"Probably. Get in." I climb into the back of the ambulance and we head to the hospital. She doesn't wake up. I'm told to wait as they work
In her to make sure she's okay. The doctor then comes out to talk to me.
"Are you south traders boyfriend?" He asks. I nod
"Yeah... is she okay?"
"She's perfectly fine. I do need to discuss something with you. Where are her parents?"
"She... she doesn't have any. She lives with me and my father. I called him. He'll be here after he finishes work. He's the mayor so it might not be for a while"
"Ah, gotcha. Come through here" he leads me to a consultation room. I sit across from him
"So. Has she told you about any history of medical conditions?" He asks.
"No. She's always been pretty healthy. These last few days however, she hasn't been herself. Drinking a lot, always tired, stuff like that"
"I see. Well, we know why she fainted. Her blood sugar levels were very high" I freeze
"That's... diabetes..."
"Yes. She has type two diabetes. She doesn't know yet. Do you want me to tell her?"
"C-can I?"
"Of course. Follow me" I follow him out to her room. She's sat up, playing on her phone
"Give a guy a warning before you fall next time" I smirk. She chuckles
"You know me, babe. I never do things by halves" I laugh and sit next to her on the bed. She leans against me with a sigh
"Babe... they told me why you fainted" I say quietly.
"Let me guess. Diabetes" she jokes. I frown
"How did you know?"
"Wait, really? Awe man! I was doing so well" she laughs
"Babe-"
"Hiccup, I knew this was coming. My mom had it, my grandma had it, my great grandma had it. Every woman in my family is diabetic by the age of 15. I thought I was safe. Guess not" she shrugs and leans against me.
"Sweetheart, I hope you know this isn't going to change anything. I'm gonna help you through this. We're in this for the long haul" she takes a deep breath and nods, burying her face in my side. I can feel the wetness against my skin.
"Oh baby" I cradle her. There's a knock at the door and my dad walks in.
"South! What happened?" I look between south and my dad.
"I'll tell him" I say to her. She nods. I take him outside
"What happened, son?" I wheeze our a breath
"She collapsed in school. She's been off for a few days. They told me that she's diabetic." He gasps
"Diabetic? Oh god..." I smile a little at him
"She said she knew this was going to happen. It's a family curse I suppose" he smiles a little.
"Aye." We go back in. South is laying on her side, curled into the pillow. I gently move the pillow and pull her against me. She sobs into my chest. I stroke her hair.
"It's gonna be okay"
"W-Why me? Why do I have to live with this?" She chokes. I sigh and kiss the top of her head. My dad places his hand in her back.
"I don't know, baby. I really don't. I know it isn't fair. "

A year later

Souths p.o.v

"Ugh..." I pinch the bridge of my nose and a wave of vertigo.
"Good?" Hiccup whispers.
"Dizzy" I mumble back
"What're your numbers?" He asks. I shrug
"Dunno..." he digs into my bag and pulls out my pink and white emergency bag. He shuffles past the condoms and pads and all that to find my blood glucose meter. He gently takes my hand and pricks my finger
"Trader! Haddock! No holding hands. Get in with your work" the substitute teacher barks. Hiccup just rolls his eyes. The meter beeps and he looks
"Fuck. It's 25."
"Phone off! In fact, give it here" the sub glares.
"Yeah, no. Gods, they never tell the subs anything, do they?" He murmurs the second bit to me. I give a breathless chuckle.
"Ugh, Fucking meds I swear. Here" he hands me a can of cherry cola and a chocolate bar. I pop the tab and take a sob, feeling my mind clear a little
"SOUTH TRADER, drinks are banned." The sub walks up and snatches my drink and chocolate. Hiccup stands
"You need to give those back, right now" he says with a cold glare.
"Drinks are banned. So is chocolate. Give me the phone as well. I'm moving you away from her"
"Miss, you don't understand. We need to sit together. For her health."
"Such lies."
"Okay fine. Here's the phone" he shoves my meter at her. She looks at it
"What in the hell is this?"
"It's a blood glucose meter. Congratulations, you just took a diabetics glucose source. Bravo" he says sarcastically
"Can that really not wait until break time!"
"No. Now give the stuff back before I have the principle down here"
"I make the rules, not you." People actually start shouting in my defence, saying that I could pass out and die, which is the truth. My head is swimming pretty bad at this point. Hiccup sits next to me with a huff. I feel so tired... I rest against hiccup, closing my eyes to go to sleep
