south's p.o.v

"what do you think love?" i ask hiccup as we walk away from our school, our hands clasped together

"i'm all for it. I really wanna eat a pizza right now" he grins at me. I chuckle

"right then. pizza it is" he bends over, beginning to tie his shoelace.

"i'll be done in a sec, you keep going." i nod and keep walking. I hear a loud screech.

"SOUTH!" i hear hiccup yell. I spin in my place to see a car coming full pelt at me. suddenly, I get shoved hard from my side, and i'm thrown to the other side of the road. my vision goes hazy when my head hits the concrete. I miss the loud bang but i hear the thud of someone hitting the ground. I scramble up and turn around, letting out a loud scream when i see hiccup laying in a heap in the middle of the road around 10 feet away. I run to him.

"hiccup? hiccup can you hear me?" i kneel next to him. his eyes are closed. i check for his pulse, and it's there, but it's weak.

"SOMEONE CALL AN AMBULANCE!" i scream to the people stood staring. no one moves, so I grab my phone and dial 911

"911 whats you emergency"

"help, he was hit by a car" I sob into the phone. people begin crowding around us.

"is he breathing?"

"yes"

"okay. where are you?"

"just outside berk academy"

"okay. an ambulance is on it's way"

"thanks" I drop my phone without hanging up. some teachers run up and one goes to move him

"don't move him! if he's hurt his neck, it'll only make it worse" i say desperately. the teacher nods and backs off. i gently place my hands on his cheeks to stabilise his spine. his eyes begin to flicker.

"hiccup? hiccup love, can you open your eyes?" he does, and looks at me

"s-south" he tries to get up

"no. don't move the ambulance is coming"

"d-did you get hurt" he rasps. I laugh

"don't worry about me, sweetheart. worry about yourself" I stroke his cheek with my thumb. his eyes screw shut and he lets out a pained cry

"my leg" he sobs, trying to move. I glance behind me, to see that the bone is literally coming out of his leg, and it's twisted. he tries to look

"no, don't look at it. keep looking at me" his eyes begin to flicker closed. i tap his cheek

"no, no, stay awake. tell me 5 things you can see" I try. his eyes open a little

"the sky... t-the tree, you... c-cars... other people" he mumbles.

"okay, good. tell me 4 things you can hear"

"um... wind, the cars, the road and your voice"

"great tell me three things you can feel"

"the road, your hands and my leg" his voice is a little clearer now, i nod encouragingly

"amazing. tell me 2 things you can smell"

"your perfume... t-the cars" he shivers. I gently take my coat off and drape it over him

"thank you love" I kiss his forehead. then, i hear the sirens and the ambulance pulls up. I step back as the paramedics come with the gurney, and get him loaded on.
