"Hiccup!" I hear everyone calling his name. He was out flying when the dragons just up and left. I make my way out there to find him. There is a large crowd, so I push my way through it
"Calm down! Give him a chance to speak!" Stoick bellows. I stand beside hiccup. He grips my hand, looking up at his father
"Hiccup, where are all of our dragons going?" Stoick asks him. He glances at me, and I give him an encouraging smile.
"Dad... I don't know" he says softly. I squeeze his hand. We hear toothless behind us, so we all turn around and walk a little towards the cliff. It looks as though toothless wants to go.

"ITS NOT RUINED" stoick shouts in response to one of the vikings.
"We've been perfectly happy celebrating without dragons for generations. And there's no reason we can do it again" he say to everyone, moving to stand in the fire platform so he's more visible to everyone. I watch my father in law try to boost morale, though with little success.
"Now we don't know where they've gone off to, but we have to have faith that they'll be back again soon" he says. I place my hand on the top of my rounded stomach, stroking my thumb along it. I get a kick, which makes me smile.
"He's right! We are vikings, and we are tough! ...most of the time" fibber adds. This makes a few people chuckle, including me. Hiccup flashes me a small smile.
"Now, lets sing some snoggletog songs" gobbet begins. We all decide to leave before it gets ugly.
"...that was depressing" ruff it states as we walk along the plaza. Hiccup flashes her a look
"I know. I was looking forward to spending the holiday with stormfly" Astrid adds desolately.
"They'll be back. Don't worry" I say soothingly. They don't listen to me, instead choosing to pay attention to fishlegs, who is whistling
"What're you so happy about? Don't you miss meatlug?" Tuffnut asks.
"Me? Uh, oh yeah." He then pretends to cry
"I miss him so much! Well, goodnight" He then scurries off, all of us looking after him, confused.
"Well... at least he's in the holiday spirit?" I tr. Snotlout rolls his eyes
"Don't even try, south"
"What? At least he's trying!" I defend my words. Hiccup grips my hand, so I shut up. He smiles at me
"Don't listen to him" he murmurs. I nod
"Good advice" I whisper back. He chuckles lowly.
"Ah! I've got an idea!" Astrid declares, walking around to face us. I tilt my head
"Let's come up with a bunch of new holiday traditions, y'know, to bury the sadness!" She says excitedly. Everyone but me groans. She gives hiccup a stern look
"Actually, Astrid might be on to something" he says.
"Yeah!" I agree. Astrid smiles at us
"Easy for you to say. Your dragon can't go anywhere without you" tuffnut says to hiccup
"Must be nice" Tuffnut adds, before everyone walks away. Hiccup watches toothless, who is stood at the edge of a cliff, with a sad look.
"You know what you have to do, don't you?" I ask him softly. He looks at me
"Yeah..."
"It isn't fair to him, hiccup."
"I know. I'll start on it now. Are you alright to head home on your own?" He cradles my cheeks
"I think I'll be just fine, babe. You I and be the creative man I know you are" he gives me a small smile
"Not a man yet, m'lady"
"Details" I gently peck his lips, before we go our separate ways. Him to the forge, me to our house. We both live with stoick. I find him, sat in his chair, carving a wooden duck.
"Ah, lass. You okay?" He asks me when he hears me come in
"Yeah. Hiccup's gone to the forge, so I've just come home to get some sleep"
"The forge? Why?"
"He knows what he has to do. It isn't fair to toothless that he is being kept from wherever the other dragons are. He's going to build him a tail that toothless can control"
"I see. Well, if you need anything, you know I'm down here and-"
"-and make sure to move your axe first. Yeah, I know" he cracks a smile
"Go on, lass. Get some sleep" I nod and walk up to kiss his cheek before heading upstairs. I crawl into bed on hiccup side, relishing the fact that his pillow still smells like him, and quickly fall asleep.
