Leah's POV

It's odd how life works. I remember when I was a teenager: I just wanted things to get over, classes to be done, and time to move on.

But now, that I'm older... It seems that the only thing that matters is trying to make every second count.

Ever since meeting T, my life went to the high way, speeding up and never slowing down. I'm not complaining though. I've enjoyed every hour, minute, second of it.
I've seen my boys grow up before my very eyes. I remember when they were little... helpless, alone, bug mostly hopeful. Hope to find a family. And a family... that's exactly what we became.

But time flies. Fast.

I remember going to school, meeting my friends, playing around, not a care in the world...
And here we were, bringing our own boys to school. Seeing them meet friends, playing around, not a care in the world...

They'd learn how to read, how to write, how to count... It was just lovely to witness their growth.

Emil always has been the outgoing, social boy. He easily made friends, played with everyone, and was one of the popular kids in his class.

Jin, however, has always been 'special'. God, I hate that word. He's unique, he's different... He's perfect!
He wouldn't make friends the way Emil did. He wouldn't play with others. He wasn't looked at by any of his peers. Quite frankly, if he were to miss school for weeks, I don't think anyone would notice... or care.

Because T and I are teachers, we easily saw Jin needed something else, a different approach.
We had him tested and, as we expected, he turned out to have ASD or autism. Somehow that made me love him more.

We moved Jin to a different school, one which would attent to his needs while Emil could focus on himself.

With my boys, my marriage, my job... I often forgot myself. I didn't think about my dreams anymore, I didn't write anymore.
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, months turned to years.
And now here we are...

Christmas had just passed. It was yet another lovely celebration. My mom, T's parents, Jin and Emil, T and I. It was a fun family evening.

But after Christmas break, school restarted.

T would bring Emil to school, as his school was right next to hers. I would bring Jin to school, as I could make the detour. And it was our time, of Jin and I.

After school, T would get Emil, and I would get Jin.

We'd get home, the boys would do their homework while T was keeping her eyes on them. I would prepare everyone's lunch for the next day.

After dinner, the boys would get ready for bed. T and I would read or tell a bed time story before kissing them goodnight.

Then we'd relax in the couch.

T let out a deep breath.

I looked at her. "Is everything ok?"

She looked at me. "Yeah," She closed her eyes briefly. "Sometimes I think about how fast our lives go," She looked at me again. "You're passed the age I was when we got together..." She nodded, seemingly thinking about what she had said. "Crazy!"

I chuckled. "Yeah, you're old."

She looked shocked at me.

"I was kidding, baby," I sighed before getting up. I turned to look at her. "Bed?"

She sighed but nodded. "Bed."

We got upstairs, dragging our feet alongside. We had to be quiet as to not wake up the boys.

We let out a breath when we got back in our room.

We got our pajamas and started getting ready for bed, each on our side of the bed.

"Oh, by the way," T started. "Tomorrow I'll be later, I have a parent that wants to see me." She sighed afterwards.

"Always fun."

She let out a deep breath. "Why can't some people understand maths isn't for their child?" She shook her head before getting up. "I'll be right back."

While she went to the bathroom, I laid down in bed. I took my phone. I'd play games, or watch some videos, or... Anything really.
Today, however, while I was looking for what to do, my eyes landed on Wattpad. I looked at the small icon for a while. My finger lingering over it, ready but not ready to press it. I can't say I was thinking much about it, it almost seemed as if I was frozen in place.

Suddenly I heard the toilet and the door to the bathroom opened. T came out, a smile on her face. "Anything fun?" She motioned to my phone.

"Not really," I said as I put my phone away. I turned to face her. I smiled as I watched her.

She smiled as well. "What?"

I shrugged. "I just love you so much."

She smiled more. "I love you too, baby."

"Why don't you show that to me?"

She chuckled before getting on top of me. "Maybe I will."

"Good." I wrapped my arms around her.

She shook her head before leaning in and kissing me.

"Don't forget, Emil, I won't be picking you up tonight," T said to Emil at breakfast. "Mama will."

Emil looked at me briefly before looking at T. "Ok, tata."

T nodded before smiling at me.

I looked at Jin, he seemed on edge. "Is everything ok, Jinnie?"

He gulped. "What about me?"

I made sure to put all my focus on him. "I'll come and get you as well."

He shook his head. "But how? My school ends 10 minutes after his. So it would be normal for you to get to him first. But if you get to him first, you'll never be in time for me. And then I'd have to stay behind and I don't want that because I can't make my homework there and then -"

"Jinnie," I said, showing him a small smile. "It'll all be alright."

He looked at me. In his eyes I could see just how terrified he was because of this small change of plans. And I knew he would be thinking about this the entire day.

I took his hand in mine. "When have I ever let you down?"

He seemed to think for a bit. "Never." He concluded.

I smiled at him. "Well then, trust me.'

Despite his irrational worries, he nodded.

"I can wait," Emil suddenly said. "I'll play some more while I'll wait for you."

I smiled at Emil before looking at Jin. "Better?"

He nodded.
