Lisa gave it another look. The lip print was very light and faced Mother Jung's direction. If her vision wasn't good enough and happened to glance over it, it was difficult to spot.
She felt comical. She really wanted to see what Mother Jung was up to.
Once she had made certain that it was the same little jade stamp that she had given to Lisa, Mother Jung quickly closed the lid back up.
Then, as though unintentionally, she placed the box behind her, having no intention of returning it to Lisa.
Lisa glanced over at the box and asked, "Little Aunty, is there something wrong with the it?"
Mother Jung sighed and said, "Your parents had been coming into my dreams as of late. I planned to take this to the temple to have a ritual performed on it by a monk.
"I will give it back to you after the ritual."
Mother Jung added, "I know you young people are different and don't believe in these things. It's just for my peacefulness of mind. I wish for my sister and my brother-in-law to be able to rest in peace."
Mother Jung had always been in the habit of offering up incense at the Buddhist temple. Nothing that she said was out of the ordinary.
Had Lisa not noticed that Mother Jung's illness was faked, she would almost have bought into her story.
Looking at Mother Jung's place look, she nodded. "Okay, Little Aunty. You do what you need. I'll just follow your leads. Just give it back to me after the ritual has been performed."
Mother Jung couldn't help but smiled, "You have always been a docile one since you were a child. You are not like Eunha, who is always driving me crazy."
With the little jade stamp in hand, Mother Jung was much relaxed. With the mention of her daughter, she couldn't help but studied Lisa more carefully when Mother Jung looked back at her.
She had felt that Lisa had been looking more and more ordinary on the day of her birthday. Looking at Lisa once again, it was, indeed, like her daughter had said. The halo had returned to Lisa, and she now looked again like her old self.
Mother Jung had mixed feelings. As opposed to her niece, deep inside she wanted more for her daughter look pretty.
Ever since she was a child, her old sister had always been the prettier one and others had always only saw her sister.
As such, Mother Jung could relate to her daughter's feelings. She did not wish her for daughter to live in the shadow of Lisa's beauty.
She wasn't certain whether her daughter would be able to grab the halo once again in the future.
Sitting across from her, Lisa gave Mother Jung a meaningful look but said nothing.
Lisa sat around for a little while longer then, not wanting to spend any more time there, Lisa said goodbye to Mother Jung.
It was obviously that Mother Jung, too, had something else on her mind and only asked politely once or twice for her to stay longer but did not insist on it.
Looking feeble, Mother Jung said, "I will have someone see you out. I didn't get much sleep last night and am going to head upstairs for a nap."
"That's quite alright. I can see myself out." Lisa stood up and pulled out a tissue. Suddenly, she leaned into Mother Jung with the tissue in hand.
"What's the matter?" Mother Jung was startled by Lisa's sudden approach and wanted to back away.
Lisa wiped Mother Jung's forehead with the tissue and said, "Little Aunty, you are sweating profusely. Are you hot?"
"Oh?" Mother Jung was a little perplexed. "No."
Lisa said worriedly, "Could it be that you hadn't been resting well lately and had grown weaker?"
Mother Jung stiffened up. At this distance, she worried that Lisa would notice something. "Perhaps. I just need a few days of rest is all. Don't worry about me. Have a safe trip back."
Lisa smiled and, still with the tissue in her hand, said, "Okay. You get some rest then."
Mother Jung looked at the tissue in Lisa's hand. She wanted to say something but finally, her lips moved, but she didn't say anything. She could do nothing except to watch Lisa left.
Walking out of the Jung's, Lisa looked at the foundation that was on the tissue. Lisa's lips curved. She had done what she did on purpose.
Mother Jung was troubled now as to whether Lisa had noticed anything.
And that was exactly what Lisa had wanted.
