Chapter 139: Talent unrecognized

Izuku tossed his keys onto his nightstand and sighed as he flopped down onto his bed. "Finally done." He spoke to which Ochako who was lying on the bed already chuckled. "Proud of you Izuku." She told Izuku who smiled. "Nah it's the bare minimum, I'm just happy I did it."

Ochako smiled as Izuku looked over to her. "Let's just hope it works, not that I really want to get into situations where you'd snap." Ochako chuckled to herself and Izuku does as well. "Yeah,but I have ways of dealing with it now so hopefully they work if the need to use them happens."

Izuku had just gotten back from his last anger management class, just in time for third year to start.

A ring started to echo through the room and Izuku picked up his phone and looked at the notification. "Who is it?" Ochako rolled closer to him and peaked over his shoulder at the phone.

It was the group chat for U.A's football team being FaceTimed by Shoto. Izuku raised a brow and answered it. Ochako shifted herself so she wasn't in the camera, just in case.

"Yo!"

Izuku saw a few of the other teammates join the call.

"Shoto you good bro?"

Shoto nodded as he finished taking a sip of a drink. "Ahh, anyways, boys." Shoto set his phone down against a wall and crossed his arms. "What are we gonna do about our lack of a quarterback?"

Izuku blinked a few times as the others started talking. "Wait hold on, isn't Monoma our backup? Why wouldn't he just become a starter...?"

"He's hurt, got too ambitious while playing soccer over the summer. He's gonna be out for our entire season."

Izuku sighed as the team started to try and see who would be the best option to replace Monoma.

"Couldn't we see if someone is gonna try out for this year? Who knows maybe a QB could show up."

Shoto rubbed his hand against his forehead. He had essentially become team captain after Bakugo and Mirio left. "I don't wanna bank on someone we've never met before, we have good team chemistry and if a quarterback isn't good enough that'll be for nothing."

Izuku blinked a few times and looked to Ochako who pointed one her finger's at him. Izuku shook his head at her and the guys on call laughed. "With Uraraka?" Kirishima asked to which Izuku nodded and panned the camera over to the girl who quickly waved to everyone.

"Anyways." Izuku panned the camera back to himself and cleared his throat. "I could...fill in for a bit I guess..."

"Then who'll be our second wide receiver?"

Suddenly another person joined which surprised the rest of the team. "Whats up boys?" Kota said as he pushed his hair out of his face.

"We're discussing our team predicament." Sero sighed and Kirishima nodded.

"Bakugo moving away really fucked you guys up huh."

The guys laughed at Kota who smiled. "Hey listen, if it's urgent I can come back to Japan for the school's season. I'd miss out on a season in America but I'm around here enough post season to where I'm already being scouted."

Shoto's eyes lit up and he grinned and nodded. "Dude that'd be amazing, Izuku is gonna take over as quarterback and you'd be the perfect backup receiver."

The group celebrated and Izuku nodded before leaving without saying anything. Ochako raised a brow. "No goodbye?" She asked Izuku who dropped his phone on the bed and rolled onto his side, facing her. "Nah, they know I'm with you so it's fine."

Ochako chuckled at the boy who smiled back at her. "What's on your mind?" She asked Izuku as she looked at his lips. "Thinking of playing another sport to be honest." Ochako perked up, curious of what he wanted to do. "Really? I was surprised you kept with football but another sport?"
