"From all the things I pictured in my future life, nothing could have prepared me for this."

"Come on, we need to be quick!" you whisper-yelled to Xyra as the two of you rushed through the forest, brushing branches to the side. Xyra followed suit, keeping an eye out for any followers while you led you two back to your "home".
"We really did this! The guards didn't notice a thing," Xyra exclaimed. Just a few minutes ago, you sneaked yourself onto the palace grounds, right where the containers full of the petals and flowers were.
With poisonous powder in bottles, you infiltrated the property and- right when no one was looking- jumped into the containers. It was an unconventional move, but the best one you had because you had to make sure the powder would be distributed evenly.
With masks on, you dumped the bottle's contents inside and mixed it really well from within.
It was translucent, and thus barely noticeable. Once inhaled, it would slowly paralyze most of the muscles and render you unable to move. Anyone who was in proximity to these petals would drop to the ground in a matter of minutes.
Sure, some civilians would be affected by this as well but they'd have to endure this short paralysis for the freedom of their people. Ultimately, they'd surely think it will be worth it.
"Anyone following us?" you asked Xyra, who shook her head in response.
"Fortunately, no. We've officially got away with it."
You nodded, smiling in relief. It was just after midnight, the moon did little to light up the path before you and using a flashlight would be too risky so you walked the way home in darkness.
Only a little more than 20 hours.
20 hours, and this family would be gone. Normally, you'd just leave the civilians to settle the loss of their leader on their own, but you weren't so sure if you'd be able to do this to Liadore too. It was hypocritical, you knew that, but somehow Liadore meant more to you than all the other nations.
Maybe you'd personally help them get back on their feet again; save Bagny too and really do something for the people here. Maybe then Garrick would not have to leave this place.
"What are you thinking about?" Xyra asked as she closed the distance between you two. She cocked her head to the side in curiosity. Her yellow eyes really stood out in the middle of these dark woods, it was almost scary but interesting at the same time.
"The future of this place, I guess. I really liked it here and I wonder what will happen once our mission is over."
"Mh, well, I'm sure the people here will figure it out, no? I mean, I talked to a few of them and they seemed to have pretty good ideas for how to improve this place. I think these people might want to take matters into their own hands now."
