"From all the things I pictured in my future life, nothing could have prepared me for this."

When Lance forced you and the others to a night out, you had no choice but to join them.

You looked out the window of the Atlas' bridge and into a bright shining portal. You were headed for Oriande after you had found out Honerva was harvesting great amounts of quintessence from all across the universe. Her robeasts were attacking entire planets and galaxies in the pursuit of it.
Whatever she was planning all this time was probably for this right now.
Massive pieces of debris filled the space, making it hard to maneuver a ship as big as the Atlas through this path without coming in contact with them. But what stood out the most was just how blinding and massive that white shining portal ahead of you was. You could barely look at it without squinting your eyes.
Through several receivers on the bridge, you heard crackling static coming through, possibly a result of what you were heading for right now.
"Sam," Shiro called out into his mic at the control center of the bridge, "we're experiencing interference. Can you lock that down?"
"I'm on it," you heard in reply to that.
You looked around and into the worried faces of your team; of Keith. He stood next to you, hand tightly holding yours as he watched the scene in front of him with wide eyes.
It was shocking and frightening to all of us, truthfully, to see something so overwhelming and knowing you'd have to get in there any moment.
You squeezed his hand in an effort to ground him for a moment. You got a squeeze back as he turned to you, eyes softening.
"How are you feeling?" you asked, nodding to what was causing you all stress. Your mouth was completely dry just standing in this room, in this anticipation.
"I'm fine. Just... a little nervous. Nothing new," he replied with a chuckle that came out more worried than lighthearted.
"I'm honestly a little scared," you admitted, shuffling a little closer to him as this room was getting even louder than before. "What if we don't succeed, you know? We might be stumbling into the most important fight of our life right now and considering what we saw on that base... she might have some more tricks up her sleeve that we have no idea about."
He looked down to the floor, lips tightly in a line as he nodded. He must've been thinking about that too. "At least we still have Lotor on our side. We can leverage that if we need to."
A strand of hair fell down his face; you slowly raised your hand to gently brush it back. "Yeah, you're right."
In situations like this, looking at his face did enough to calm your mind a little. As long as that vision of his with the two of you had not happened, you were reassured that you would stay by his side just a while longer. That you would still be able to look at his face the next day.
