"From all the things I pictured in my future life, nothing could have prepared me for this."

After visiting Nadia's room on the first floor, where about half of the Garrison crew's women were gathered and getting ready, you walked over to Allura two rooms over.
Today was the official celebration of Earth's independence. Just two weeks ago, you had finally defeated Sendak and that armored beast that almost blew the entire planet into pieces.
Waking up in the hospital afterwards was tough, especially the almost too thorough and excessive medical testing. Luckily, you were discharged pretty soon afterwards and were now fully healed.
You held your dress in your arms a little tighter as you approached your friend's door. After knocking exactly five times, just like you had discussed beforehand, you waited for a second before someone opened the door. That way, you knew if it was one of you coming in or someone else. What you were doing inside was supposed to be a secret until the official ceremony.
"Hey, (Y/N), come in," Xyra said with a smile. You stepped in, watching the others try on their clothes.
"You look so cute in that dress!" Sarah squealed as she took a look at Pidge, who looked rather unimpressed with her appearance.
"I don't know," she muttered, looking in the mirror.
One week ago, each of you were handed a simple black dress for the celebration. It wasn't much, but considering war had just ended and the resources were limited, you all accepted it.
When you were handed these clothes, you all had eyed them for a little more than a minute.
Personally, you were thinking of ways to style it and make it look less... boring. Then Allura suddenly had an idea and gathered all of you to share it.
And so, a whole week of planning and altering dresses had begun.
Was it allowed? You weren't sure, but hey, you saved Earth- the least they could do was allow you to break the dress code for one evening.
The original dress was made to be loose enough and reached the knees. The sleeves were mid-length and the neckline was v-shaped. All in all, it definitely benefited from your alterations.
Pidge's dress had almost stayed the same, apart from the waist-area, that Allura insisted would look better cinched. With a piece of fabric, she tied the dress from the back and added a small bow. You personally thought it looked really cute and fit her overall style.
"You really do look good in that dress, Pidge," you agreed with Sarah.
Pidge watched herself in the mirror for another moment, before accepting your judgements. "Thanks, I guess. It's just been so long since I've worn one."
"True," Xyra added, "it's weird to get used to. This whole week I've been making alterations like crazy, but now it almost seems like I did too much."
Immediately, the others disagreed and affirmed that the dress was "literally bomb", as Sarah put it.
