"From all the things I pictured in my future life, nothing could have prepared me for this."

When you woke up this morning, you found something alarming on your body.
Just yesterday, your team and the others had trained the whole day, exhausting yourselves completely to improve and sharpen your skills. While you did participate with your bayard for some time, you spent most of your day training with quintessence.
You tried doing different things like healing small wounds on your friends, which did seem to work to some extent, or sensing people with your eyes closed. You hoped that if you could unlock that skill and see people coming just by their quintessence in their body, you'd unlock a whole different level of fighting. Especially in darker places or with enemies like that former druid that fought you guys while invisible.
Somehow, Keith managed to sense him back then. You and Allura were convinced he might have some alchemic ability in him too, but he, for some reason, couldn't be bothered to try.
Today, you noticed, your arms were completely covered in bruises. They went up to your shoulders and collarbones; patchy and almost purple.
Upon pressing on it, you couldn't seem to notice any pain, which confused you to say the least.
It was probably connected to all the quintessence training from yesterday, otherwise you couldn't really explain this whole new "look" on your arms.
When you returned from another training session and debriefing in the afternoon, you stood in front of the mirror, examining your whole body for anything else. Other than the bruising on your stomach from the electric shocks back then, everything else seemed normal. You cringed every time you looked at it. Sadly, all your training in healing couldn't get rid of that yet.
Your skills were nowhere near what Allura or Lotor was capable of, of course, but it seemed like the human body wasn't even strong enough to really handle this whole alchemy thing after all. How come you bruise up at the use of this simple training?
You brushed these thoughts aside and went to get dressed out of your armor. The rest of the day and tomorrow were some of your only days off from training for another while, and you had to make use of that.
Yesterday, Keith suggested leaving the Garrison and going for a little walk and you happily agreed. Since the weather here would be somewhat hot, you decided to throw on shorts and a black long-sleeve shirt. Luckily, the bruises were hidden perfectly with that and the collar covered just the right amount.
You figured it would turn colder in the evening, but you'd probably be back by then so you chose not to carry one with you.
Someone knocked on your door and you shouted for them to enter. Of course, it was Keith, greeting you with a smile on his face. "Ready to go? I got the keys to one of their hoverbikes," he said, spinning the keyring around his fingers.
