You sighed deeply, sinking into your seat in the back of the rover. Sarah and Hunk were making conversation, but you barely listened to it.

Veronica sat in the drivers seat, with Hunk sitting on the right. The rest of you sat in the second row, and somehow you ended up right in between James and Keith. You'd be lying if you said the tension in between the two wasn't totally suffocating.

Sure, they didn't like each other, but was it really that serious?

You looked past Keith and out the window to distract yourself. It was getting dark already; the last rays of sunshine painted the sky in a soft purple while the shadows of buildings nearby slowly grew longer. It was a bittersweet moment, seeing the beauty of nature cast its light on destruction of the Galra. All the memories bound to this place were buried under the rubble of cement. All life that once was there was completely sucked out; the only sign of it ever existing being the splutters of blood on the walls and ground.

You felt your heart being squeezed mercilessly, so you averted your gaze and looked down at your lap where your hands rested.

You were glad your mother was at the base, and that there was no one else for you to lose. Just imagining what Hunk must be going through right now set off fear in you, yet here he was, speaking to Sarah as if he had nothing to worry about and being incredibly brave despite all this. You admired him for how composed he could be when it really mattered.

"We're almost there," James commented as he scanned the outside. "Only a few minutes left."

"Where exactly are we going? I don't recognize this place at all." You turned to the brunette to your left, who let his gaze fall on you.

"There's someone we know. He'll take us to where the Galra keep Hunk's family and others." He put his lips into a line and averted his eyes after a moment.

"With all the surveillance of this place, it's our safest way to stay undetected."

You nodded along, agreeing that it was a good plan. "Must be someone of the rebellion, right?"

Sarah chimed in from james' left, "Yup, that's right. Not many of them survived so we'll have to be super careful. Veronica will send the signal while we wait from further away."

The car ride only lasted for another minute or so before you all quickly parked and exited. Veronica split from the team while the rest of you followed James and Sarah to one of the many abandoned and broken down buildings in this place.

"We'll watch from above and cover her if anything happens. Let's go," Sarah instructed while gesturing for you to follow. You were being led inside of a building that was nothing but cement walls and half broken stairs from inside.

Your brows furrowed. "How are we gonna get up there without the stairs breaking under our steps? This place looks like it's a windblow away from collapsing."
