"From all the things I pictured in my future life, nothing could have prepared me for this."

When Lance forced you and the others to a night out, you had no choice but to join them.

You watched the fire dance in the fireplace, casting a warm, flickering glow across the cave walls where you were gathered.
After escaping this base, you quickly made your way to a far enough planet so you wouldn't be found, but near enough for your lions to handle the journey. They had to recharge for a while, so you decided to let them rest outside while you all waited around this fireplace.
"So, three years have passed since our fight with the druids? All because of the intergalactic jumps?" you asked for clarification.
Pidge had just run a scan on the systems of Mardoovs Base, comparing the data to yours, and concluded that while you were in the quintessence field, fighting for your lives, you disappeared to the rest of the world.
"Now Mardoovs questions make sense," Lance said, lazily throwing a stick into the fire. "Since we disappeared, a lot must have changed."
"Yeah," Ezor agreed. She and Zethrid had carried in a tree stump earlier, and now they were sitting on it. Ezor sat with her arms supporting her from behind, her legs crossed, and her feet turning from side to side.
"I think that guy mentioned something about us not being in power to do anything anymore. Right before (Y/N) bit that guy's neck off, you remember?"
"Yes, thanks for the reminder," you replied sarcastically.
"Wait what?" Lance snapped his head to you. "What did you do?"
Luckily, Acxa returned the conversation to its original topic again. "Yes, I've heard so too," she calmly stated. "I think in the last three years, someone else might have taken the throne."
You swallowed. If Lotor wasn't the emperor anymore, did that mean your effort to keep him in the alliance was basically for nothing?
Sure, having them here was always an advantage, but your plans with the Galra empire- prreventing the Zirakal and leading them to other ways- it wasn't possible anymore; not like this.
You looked to Romelle, who was watching Lotor. Maybe she was thinking the same thing, but you hoped not. You hadn't spoken to her much, for obvious reasons, but from what you knew of her she was definitely going to hold this grudge for a very long time and there was no talking her out of it. Especially not from you.
You sighed, letting your head drop on your knees. You had to replan this entire thing again. There had to be a way to make this right again.
A hand dropped on your shoulder, shaking you softly, and your eyes snapped back up from where they were fixated on the fire.
"Mh, what?"
"Are you okay?" Keith asked, his eyes intently on you.
