I got home on my own that night. Arnav had offered to drop me off, but knowing my mom, I knew she'd be looking out the window, waiting for me to get home.

When I got inside and Amma stopped me.

"Why are you so late," she asked.

"Sorry Amma, I had a lot of work and I still have more to do."

The truth is since the quarter was almost over, I was busy reconciling everything with the others in my department. Not everything was in balance, and all of the accounts and books needed to be in balance by next week. And the sooner that was determined, the quicker the latest deal could be finalized.

Thinking about it stressed me out and I sighed heavily. I was about to upstairs when Amma spoke.

"Your old professor dropped by today. You know, the one who gave you the job?"

"Really," I said, turning to face her. "Why?"

"His daughter is getting married."

My eyes widened. I knew his daughter very well - we went to school together.

"No way," I exclaimed.

"Yes," she said handing me a card. "This is the invitation card."

"Oh my gosh! I can't wait to go!"

I rushed up the stairs, into my room, and called Payal. She had also gotten an invitation as well.

"Oh my gosh," Payal exclaimed. "Can you believe it?".

"No, I can't. Wow! I can't wait to see how the guy looks like."

"I know-," Payal cut off.

"Payal? You there?"

"Yeah, sorry, I just got a text from Akash."

"Is that so? By the way how did you guys meet? You said you were going to tell me."

"Well after you disappeared on me that night, him and I talked and well... we kind of, sort of... clicked?"

"I see.... What's surprising me is that you managed to keep your mouth shut."

"Shut up okay! I can keep my mouth shut!"

"Alright! Geez!"

"Thought-," she cut off again.

"Hello?"

"Sorry Khushi, Akash just texted me again. And guess what!"

"What?"

"You're not going to believe this, but they're coming too!"

"Who's coming?"

"Akash and Arnav!"

I stood up. "What?!"

"Yeah! Oh my gosh! Now I'm nervous! Oh gosh! Khushi! What should I wear to the party? I want to look good that day especially since he's going to be there! Hello? Khushi! You there?"

"...uh... huh...?" Uh, not really!

"Are you okay?"

"Huh? Yeah, I'm fine." No, I'm not!

"You sure?"

"Yes." No!

"Okay, I'll talk to you later? Okay?"

"Okay." Help me!

She hung up the phone and I put my phone on charge. Once again another party with Arnav and I have no problem against that, but the thing is if Amma and Babuji go... then....

Oh no.

Babuji passed by my room and saw that I was puzzled. "Khushi? What's wrong?"

"Nothing Babuji."

He shook his head and was about to go when he turned back. "By the way, I don't think your Amma and I can to the wedding."

My eyes widened slightly. "Why not?"

"I don't really like social events with people I don't know too well."

"Right... okay...."

Babuji left and he shut the door behind him.

I sighed in relief. Thank goodness!

It would've been so hard to hide my feelings around my parents.

That night, I went to sleep in peace. I couldn't wait for the wedding! I had to go out and get an outfit fast – after all, the wedding was two weeks away!
