Viren's POV:
"I lied to you." Her voice and those horrid words hung in the air, replaying on repeat in my mind. I had long ago gone to bed, though sleep evading me.Mum had gone on to tell me how they were mates. That my father never raped my mother. They met many years ago after he had already chosen a Queen and had two children. (Flashback:)
"Our situation was impossible. Not only was it a death sentence to mate with another species other than human, it was also something he knew his coven would never accept. He already had a family, heirs to take over when he passed the title down. It wouldn't have worked. We agreed to allow ourselves one night. It was the best and worse day of my life. The sparks were magical. I couldn't explain the feeling if I tried. He was my whole world by I couldn't be his. There were many tears when we went to part but he suddenly stopped. He told me that he would always love me and remember and cherish our night together. When he reached for my face, I hadn't even realised what he was about to do. If I had I would have stopped it. One of his abilities was being able to make people forget things. I wanted me to move in with my life and forget about our connection know he couldn't be who I needed him to be. It backfired as you know, however because it was a ability and not a magic spell I had no idea how long it would last, or how easy his memories could be triggered. It why I lied to you. I didn't want you to hate him, he wasn't a monster like a let you believe. I just couldn't risk you searching him out." She swallowed the lump in her throat while trying and failing, to wipe all her freely flowing tears from her face.
(End of flashback)
I hardly slept last night trying to come to terms with all the new information. Seeing her in the hospital must have triggered some of his flashbacks. It was why he was so adamant on handing her phone back to her in person. Apparently he made no move to scare her while handing it back, but had arranged for someone he trusted to follow her and tie her up. He had only been questioning her when I had interrupted. He thankfully hadn't figured out they were mates before leaving but I doubted it would take him long to figure it out. The fact he also saw me there at her house will only speed up the process and add to the never ending list of questions he must have.
"Ah Viren so nice to see you this morning, please come and join us for breakfast." Jeffs words brought me from my thoughts. I eyed the place noticing the increased security guarding the doors.
My stomach flipping at the idea of human food. I could survive of it, but it didn't call to me like blood did. I gave a nod in Jeffs direction before walking into the dinning hall.I honestly didn't think anything could coax laughter from me today of all days, but was pleasantly surprised by the sounds that exploded from my chest. I couldn't remember the last time I laughed. Large bulky and hairy guards dressed in female maid outfits, stood with there ass peeking out the bottoms. It was not a sight I expected to see today... or any day for that matter. They were limping as the walked with the girls worn flats. Evidence of swelling feet bulging out the tops of the shoes hinted to blisters. Jeffs reaction was much like my own, unexpected and shocked by our own laughter.
"I must say I hadn't expected the entertainment today." Jeff mumbled as we took our seats.I eyed my food cautiously, not making any move to eat. It was bad enough I wasn't hungry to begin with, but looking around the room many maids and bed warmers were spitting eggshells onto their plates. Still, not one complained about it.
The rest of the morning was interesting. I watched as three of the guards received lashings for getting glass in Jeffs food. As hard as I tried, my eyes refused to stray away from the crimson fluid being waisted on the ground. I was thirsty, so very thirsty and this was testing my willpower. Lucky for me I wasn't also able to smell it or I was sure I wouldn't have been able to refrain from it.
A large drop of blood let go of the silver chains, flying back into the crowd on the left of me. I was surprised to see it land on Blues cheek. What surprised me most was her reaction to me when our eyes met. Her hands gripped her neck and she looked.. thirsty? Her friends voice drew her attention away from me. It was long enough for me to take some deep steading breaths. Before I knew it, it was all over. Jeff and I waited until everyone made their way back inside before also heading inside.
"Viren feel free to mingle or look around, unless you would rather take Blue for a while. I have some work to do in my office if you need me." Jeff excused himself as I surveyed my surroundings. Some time with Blue was exactly what I needed.
After a few minutes I realised she was no where to be seen. I listened in for her voice concentrating on hers alone and blocking out everything else that surrounded me. My eyes opened, zeroing in on a door above the stairs."Stuart, everything you do is your choice. If you don't like who you have become... change it. Keep an open mind and look at your mate and what she does, from another perspective. I see how she looks at you, and the excitement in her eyes when others give her the attention she craves. You haven't marked her yet, there is still a way out."
I open the door to see her hand tightly gripping Stuart's shoulder. She moved it with lightning speed but my eyes had seen it. I kept my face neutral though the surge of anger I felt towards this guard, was burning brightly. He has done nothing to earn her pity. Nothing but beat and abuse her."Blue you are needed elsewhere, please come with me." My voice was calm though the war waging beneath my flesh was anything but. I could take down all the guards in this place before they had a chance to blink. That thought soured me in as I swiftly exited the room not waiting for Blue to follow, though knowing she will. I hid in one of the corridors waiting for her to pause in confusion before pressing down on her neck making her black out. I caught her before she could hit the ground and made sure no one was around as I stepped through the painting that hid the secret passage.
I place her gently down on the white bed and pace the length of the room trying to release my pent up frustration at this situation. Her beautiful light blue hair has be growing at a faster rate now thanks to her wolf. A random, irrelevant thought bouncing in my mind. Her heart is too pure for this life, yet she has shown great resilience to everything thrown her way.
My mind was filled with thoughts only of Blue. In a way, that was better on a day like today. It was getting harder to control my emotions with everything in my life begining to spiral out of control.
Jaycee's POV:
I hold in a groan feeling dizzy, though it only lasts for a moment. I open my eyes to see Viren pacing the room with a speed much faster than a human or witches usual speed. I clear my throat making him jump. A flicker of shock, joy and worry all fusing together.
"You're awake.. already? Impressive." He mumbles slowing his pace right down before stopping in front of me. He runs his hands through his hair. A nervous gesture I hadn't seen him make before. He was usually in control of every movement he made, however now looking at him he seems... different.
I stand up walking towards the small table in the corner of the room. I poor a glass of cold water for myself before thinking back to the strong thirst he had felt earlier. I take a slow step towards him, aware he was watching my every move. As I offered the glass towards him he frowned.
"No thank you, I'm not... thirsty." He says still frowning at me. As he paused before speaking the word thirsty, I felt his thirst come back ten fold. It confused me. I frowned at the water but when I looked back up into his eyes, I found them transfixed on my neck.
"Vampire." Frosts words had my heart rate spike instantly. The way he gritted his teeth and squeezed his hands into fists told me he noticed it. "If he was only a wizard, he wouldn't have noticed our pulse, that only confirms our suspicion."
I take a hesitant step back and sit on the bed. He scrubs his hands down his face in frustration. "He doesn't know why our heart rate spiked earlier, only that it did. Quick talk about anything that would have made us not trust him."
"It was you wasnt it?" I questioned pulling his attention towards me. "You did something to me again making me black out." It was a statement not a question. One nod and a flicker of relief crossed his emotions but his face was back to being an impenetrable mask.
"Do you think he is one of us? A hybrid?" I question Frost in my mind.
"He has to be, though why would he be here working with Jeff? Maybe he wants to control us?"
"Sorry about that, this place needs to remain a secret. I get no pleasure in it in case you were wondering." Viren spoke and I was surprised to see no guilt in his eyes. He was telling the truth.
"How about we continue our game shall we? I'd like to get to know you better." I nod preferring this over watching the maids seduce Stuart.
