Viren's POV:
The pain was intense, however the emotional pain, the one stemming from the thought of my mate dying, was far greater than anything.
I watched as Jaycee became unresponsive faster than the rest of us, and if I wasn't seeing black spots in my vision and feeling the burn around my heart and inside my lungs I would have been trying to make sense of what was happening.
Zander was next to pass out then Layla. For some reason Coal and I were still consciously holding on, but only just.
Alessia and Crim appeared with Serg in a ball of smoke. The two Vampire royals rushed over to Zander trying to help, as a shimmering blue net made of water and light engulfed him in its grasp.
"Alexa feels it, she is trying to help but doesn't have a enough energy to help everyone after the birth of her son. Her wolf and her are still recovering themselves.
My mother Magista, along with my father Serg runs towards me but my gaze flicks over to Nala, a worried look in her eyes.
"Save.. mate." Those two words took the last bit of oxygen from my lungs. I watch her hesitate wanting to help me and I remebered something she said. "We are bonded, if you die, I too shall leave this earth." If Coal dies, Rose although seemingly fully recovered, will also perish.
She shakes herself out of it before rushing over to Jaycee. Rose does the same to Layla, and my heart swells with so much love and appreciation. Nala gives me a quick nod, feeling all of my gratitude.
"Coal remembered their mindlink, why couldn't we think of that?" My beast grumbles at the lack of oxygen. How were we still conscious?Nala kneels down beside my mate, her wings stretch over her like a protective blanket. She glows blue once.. then twice. Her aura felt warm from all the way over here, and I find the pain around me lessen ever so slightly as she attempts to understand what has caused this before knowing how to treat it.
"Black magic." Nala speaks to everyone using her mind. "A powerful witch has put a spell, much like an insurance policy. Those who have cause the most pain and death towards the top members of Margo's group, will also perish with them."
I hear Mali gasp in the background, the sound appearing feather away than I knew she stood. "It's all my fault! Margo made me do a powerful spell a few years ago. I forgot all about it until now. "You have to kill me to break it! Quickly you're running out of time.
"No!" Renalda cries. "I just got you back."
"It's either me or the five of them. They saved so many today mother.. I must do this."
My mother puts a hand on her sisters shoulder before grabbing a vile. Before aunt Renalda can stop my mother, the yellow potion filled with sparks is thrown at Mali. Mali smiles gratefully at my mother whispering a Thank you before it collided with her.
"No!!! Renalda screams throwing my mother backwards, sending her to the ground. Just as she reached her daughter who crumples to the floor, she cries.
"What.. have.. you.. done?" Rather than anger or accusation in her voice, there was confusion as tears fall from her bright blue eyes.
My mother smiles at her sister. "Calm Rena." She says using her childhood nickname. "I used a simple paralysing potion on her. She can still see, hear and breath, she just won't be a risk to herself for ten minutes or so. No one here would want her to trade her life for theirs. Have faith in these special creatures. I can feel their ancient magic."
Renalda stands, engulfing her sister after all these years in a tight embrace. "Thank you. I missed your strength."
"Tears.. beautiful tears fall from Nala's eyes. At first I thought she was crying because of my mother and her sister, but reaching out to her I feel her relief as they land on my mates forehead.
