Trigger warning - discussions about children terminally ill. No one dies but it is discussed towards the end of it.
Jaycees POV:
From my position at the window I could see Coal running towards the training group. He stops on the outer edge of the crowed listening intently to what ever it is Viren is saying.
Mt eyes widen briefly and I scramble to the bedside table grabbing a blue pen and tearing an unused page from an old note book. I quickly scribble down Coals permission slip completely forgetting the formal process. Hey it's my first day as acting Luna, cut me some slack.
With a small blast of magic, I will a force field to surround the note before opening the window. Using my illusion magic I make sure no one can see it except for Coal.
It floats towards him, carried on a gentle floral scented breeze, nuzzling between his curled fingers and the palm of his hand until sliding fully within his grasp. The surprise on Coals face was amusing, however before he could read what the note said, Max approached him. I see Max ask something before Coal looks down at the note briefly allowing his eyes to flicker over the rushed scribbled words. He suppresses a small smirk before handing the note to Max. I see him nod before turning to my attention once again to Layla.
Quiet snores fill the room as Sadie replaces Layla's damp face wash for the fourth time, in an attempt to cool her down.
"This isn't working." Sadie sighs feeling how quickly the damp wash cloth warms to an untouchable temperature. "It feels like her fever has only gotten worse."I take in Layla, noticing the deep red appearance of her flesh. It had darkened considerably.
Sadie curses as a blister forms on her finger. She juggles the face wash, throwing it in the air a few times while sealing hands, in an attempt to cool it.
"It's.. it's too hot to even touch." She says, worry and pain evident in her glassy eyes. "Oh Layla." Sadie sobs. "How are we going to be able to help her Jaycee? I havn't seen a single flash of her future since Coal marked her, and it's not for lack of trying either."
I walk up to Sadie feeling the tingle of my healing magic dance, eagerly waiting to be released. With a quick touch, the blistered flesh healed before her eyes. My hand raises wiping a stray tear falling from her ruby eyes encased by thick long lashes and heavy eyeliner.
"That's one neat party trick. Thanks Jay."
"No problem." I say before embracing my cousin in a lasting hug. I was unable to shake the worry from encompassing my own heart as my eyes fell upon Layla's sleeping form. Sweat slid along her heated flesh leaving the sheets beneath her damp.
The bedroom door bursts open banging hard against the plastered wall. Sadie and I jump from our hug as a low threatening growl sounds towards the door. Sadie was facing that way, I however turn around quickly, a low growl emerging from my throat at the possibility of a fight. Frost being the acting Alpha of this pack, was taking her role extremely seriously and in doing so was reading for an attack.
White fur begins sprouting along my arms as our light blue eyes connect with the attackers.
Jealousy, anger and a burning possessiveness fills my body, lighting my own flames within me a deep shade of scarlet. As the attackers eyes widen he flicks off his hood revealing Jet.
"Apologies Jaycee."Frost growls angrily at him at the lack of our title, and for a moment even I am startled by the sound. "I.. I mean apologies Luna." He emphasises.
My white fur and canines recede, Frost finally calming enough to allow me to speak through normal teeth. "Don't ever barge into a room in my pack like that again." I demand feeling a sense of protectiveness wash over me for my pack. It was just a strong as the feelings I picked up from Jet earlier however I could easily differentiate between the two.
