Jaycee's POV:

"Great! Why can't my mate be super cool and protective like that." Layla says grinning when Coal growls angrily, falling for her teasing.  Layla laughs before wrapping her arms around Coal. "I'm just messing with you." She laughs.

"Princess I will burn cities down in seconds for you." Layla frowns.

"Hey that reminds me! You owe me some answers."

"Jaycee darling." My mother mind links Layla and I. "Dinner is no longer in the dinning room, plans have changed as we have important guests arriving shortly. We all need to dress up for the occasion. You girls will find a dress with your names on it inside Layla's room.  Begin getting ready, advise Viren and Coal their suits are hanging on their doors, and that everyone including is expected to attend."

I sigh not wanting to interrupt everyone just when we were beginning to get answers, but have no choice. I relay the message and the boys promise to fill us in during dinner if we get moments of privacy.

"Wait before you go." Layla 's hand grabs onto my own pausing my movement. "Since you guys haven't fought, and Viren technically gave you the answers you were after, we'll call your fight a draw. Viren smirks realising something I do not.

I frown. "Fine. I got what I needed anyway."
Layla snorts. "So did Viren. Don't worry I will help you pack and move tomorrow."

I gasp with wide eyes completely forgetting about his end of the deal. "No.. I can't."

Viren smiles. "What's wrong darling, scared you won't be able to resist my charms?" Viren says seductively, sending a wink my way.

"Of course not! I just-"

"Good, what's fair is fair. We both win." He says bidding us all goodbye before eagerly dragging a pouring Coal from Layla.

An hour passes, and I have spend most of it in the shower enjoying the hot pressure of water as it falls on my back. Flashes of my time in Jeff's pack assault my mind. Cold shivering showers with dirty tamp towels, mould making every surface slippery. A shiver racks my spine at the memory, the images so vibrant and convincing I  almost believe I am back there. Only once Layla barges in, turning the water off doing I finally force myself out, allowing her to trade places.
While drying my hair I find myself looking at my light rose gold hair brush and black makeup box that Sadie raided before packing most of it into one of my suitcases. My hands begin to shake as I once again realise after tonight I will be moving into Viren's room.
"Jaycee relax." Sadie says walking in. "Come sit."

I gasp as my eyes lock with her red orbs. Excitement and anticipation screaming loudly at me. Only after taking in her perfect make up and tight fitting red lace dress do I frown.

"I can't put makeup on you with you frowning this much." She says dragging me to the bed.

"Sadie did you perhaps use magic to get ready?"
She laughs. "That obvious? Yeah I guess I couldn't be bothered spending an hour perfecting my eyeliner so asked my mum to do it for me."

"I jump as a large cloud of dark smoke appears before desipating, leaving a grinning Alessia in its place.

"Aunty!" I gasp wrapping my arms around her waist. With her duties as Vampire Queen I hadn't seen her much as of late.

"My sweet girl. You are running quite a bit late so I've come to help out." She says grinning with the same level of excitement and anticipation I saw in Sadie's eyes. There was a sneaky flash of guilt that I would have missed if I were a kid.
