Jaycee's POV:
My body was burning one minute then freezing the next. The pain I had endured for the first twenty four hours after waking, had been excruciating. I knew the burning was stemming form my heat, and believed the cold chill was caused by Frost as she tried to heal our wounds faster, and recover a stubborn memory of mine that had been suppressed deep into our mind.
"This one is more stubborn than the others, I believe Renalda wasn't behind this one." Frosts says. " Since I can't heal us of our heat, I can try focus on this memory, it may help give us temporary relieve from the blistering pain."
As Frost faded from view in my mind, my attention was brought back to the people staring at me. My mother, father, Ella, Sadie, Jet, Cassey and Layla hadn't left my side the entire day. I was sure Jet was only here because Sadie refused to leave me, based on the sneaky glances he did when she had her back turned. Either way they all took turns placing damp towels on me. One of them would get one of the elementals to make ice to cool down a makeshift bath, and they all did their best to lower my temperature and reduce my pain. After an exhausting day, Mum mentioned my heat may last up to five days. I would have collapsed on the spot had I been standing, and I couldn't take the constant looks of pity, worry and agony in everyone's eyes much longer.
"Darling I can put you in a sleep state. You will still feel the pain but it will lessen substantially. You'll also be distracted by your dreams. It might help you get through it since you don't have your mate here to help."I growled out angrily at the mention of our mate making everyone's eyes widen with shock, apart from Layla. "If my mate sniffs me out, I'll be turning him into a chew toy."
My parents frowned. "What did he do to make you this angry?" My father asked with concern. The confusion and worry was strong so I cast my eyes away as I spoke.
"He raped me in front of Alpha Jeff, impregnated me, then stopped me from killing my baby just because they want to build a hybrid army. Then he says stupid things to make it look like he cares, all while keeping me locked up in that prison with the others. Not once did he try to save me, even though he has a huge secret of his own. His also a hybrid."My father stormed out growling, with Jet hot on his heels. I heard the distant sound of bones breaking but I refused to look up. Sadie's delayed gasp was the only thing that drew everyone's attention.. including mine, her way.
"It all makes sense now. It's Viren isn't it? His your mate."
My mothers body shook before her skin glowed with the power of her magic wanting to break free. "He was there when my mother was killed, and although I don't believe he supported it, he also didn't stop it. Now I find out he is involved with keeping you imprisoned, and raping my baby girl." She chocked on a sob as her wolf began to howl. The pain in my mothers eyes rivaled my own at this moment. "I won't let this go unpunished! I wish Viren so much pain, he will suffer as much as you are suffering, and I prey to the moon goddess his guilt eats him alive." A flash of blue light escapes my mother and exited the tent. My eyes widened realising it was in a one was trajectory to Viren.
As mum wobbled on her feet, dad came and scooped her into his arms. He walked over to me placing a kiss on my head. A small stray tear escaped him landing on my cheek as he turned away and took mum to their tent.Layla stepped in my line of sight with pride and joy in her eyes. "I'm so proud of you for having the strength to free yourself. By sharing your story with everyone who loves you most, we can all share your pain and help you slowly heal."
I frown at her. "Layla, how can you be so happy when you went through the exact same thing?" I whisper to her.
Her eyes widened, betrayal and anger flashing in them before she stormed out of the tent leaving Ella frozen on the spot. Sadie's eyes widened as she looked between me and the direction Layla went in.
