Magista's POV (Viren's Mother)

Sweat trickled down my flesh, and my muscles protest with every fast and sharp movement I made. They were necessary to dodge all the attacks my three opponents were sending my way, unfortunately for me, I had come from fighting Jeff and the others so my energy levels were already low to begin with.

Not having time to catch my breath, I ignored my bodies protest and continued on. Luckily the two warriors at my back, Max and Ed I think their names were, knew what they were doing. It allowed me to concentrate on my enemies without having to worry about everyone else around me.

After a solid fifteen minutes on defence I took a moment to rid myself of one of my vials. I was down to my last few, so needed to make them count.
The shimmering white liquid burst into a flash of light as it collided with the rogues face. His brown iris's turned a milky and pale shade of blue, making the his pupils unresponsive to light.

I had blinded him, and although it wasn't something I took pride in, it was better than ending his life. I couldn't continue fighting three enemies at once indefinitely, so it was either me or them.

The Rogue on my right took this opportunity to bite down on my right knee. His sharp teeth breaking through the bone, tearing into it painfully. I bit down my scream and slammed a paralysing potion into the side of his open mouth, the bitter liquid cling to his tongue as the shattered vial shards embedded themselves into his lips and cheek.

He releases his hold just as his legs give out. His breathing slows but doesn't stop.

The last rogue watches me keenly, and I wonder how I can continue on without the use of my leg. Anything below my knee was now dangling uselessly, but I wouldn't ask for help and risk distracting the others. That could be deadly in itself.

As the Rogue dug its paws into the soft earth reading to launch, I braced myself. There was no way I'd have the strength to hold my ground for long, or the power to win against a stronger opponent while sporting this kind of disadvantage.

I felt as though time slowed. A blast of warmth enveloped me, as a flash of dazzling colour surrounded the three of us. It felt like being bathed in a hot breeze on a summers day. The power seeped into every cell, warming and rejuvenating me like I hadn't ever experienced. It took one second for my body to stitch itself back together. My broken bone clicked back into place, muscles mended and skin healed itself. All that was left to remind me I hadn't imagined it, was the tingles running down my body.

"What was that?" I called out wondering what incredible force had me feeling brand new.

"That." Ed breathed.

"Was our Luna." Max finished dealing a final blow to his last enemy, nocking him out cold before flinging his heavy form into my last rogue.
I caught a flash of light blue hair in the distance and realised she was the one I wouldn't miss. I now understood why. Everywhere she traveled she shared her healing. Wisps of magic flowed freely from her body to those she past. Others relieved sighs trailed after her as she ran, until she was out of sight.

The fighting continued for another thirty minutes. Over that time Jaycee was struck with a bolt of lighting, and all of us had been struggling to hold our own against the other witches that had joined the fight.

I often caught glimpses of one Margo told to keep out of the fight. I overheard him saying she needs to conserve her strength to help cover their tracks when they finally leave. She hid behind the dense forest line observing and waiting for the fighting to finish.

Jaycee was struck by a blast of lightning. My heart had stopped at the thought of my son loosing his mate. I ran to her defence using the last thing I had. A wand crafted by a very talented witch. This wand was special though. Rather than amplifying the powers I possessed it was capable of absorbing oncoming attacks and repelling them back to their owners. I hadn't needed to use it before and although Margo's ability to repel magic was counter productive, it was enough to buy Jaycee the time she needed.

The breath that left her lips brought joy to my heart. As pain filled as it sounded, she was alive. I turned my attention onto the others and found myself working with a beautiful girl named Ember. She was incredibly gifted with elemental magic, the heat of her flame sending heat throughout the entire clearing, but even she was no match for the earth wilder. As the ground beneath our feel trembled, earth began to split.

Most of us began to fall into the openings, I did my best to help pull some out but it took everyone's remaining strength. We couldn't keep going like this for long.

Margo decided to take that moment to do something I had only ever heard about. He used a spell that combined two types of magic into one. The lighting of his thunder and the heat of his flame fused to create a deadly ball of magic that grew in size with every second.

Jaycee was too far from the rest of the group for my protective shield to reach her and the others. I knew at that moment I had to choose. All there lives, or their Luna. My sons mate. As much as it pained me, I couldn't put my son through that kind of heart ache. This may have been the most selfish thing I'll ever do.
I suck in a breath preparing to unleash my magic, but the world shifts. I'm spat out somehow, in the centre of everyone, out of reach from the Luna. As my magic exploded from my fingertips with no time to spare, I realise it was the Luna's doing. She must have read my intentions and transported me back.

The act, giving her life for everyone else's reminded me much of my son. They truly were perfect for one another. The best Alpha and Luna any pack could ask for. As the magic leaves Margo's hold, he manages to curve its direction until it hits my shield.

To my relief it holds tight only disintegrating as the attack ends.y eyes land of Jaycee. She is airborn l, blasted back from the impact, on the odd chance she survives this I grab hold of my tiny tracker, its edges shard like little barbs. I thow it, and watch as it buried itself into her waist. A sting I'm sure she felt.
The moment my legs collapse from under me, Margo, the hidden witch and Jaycee vanish before our eyes.

"She couldn't have survived that after healing everyone and having no healing left over for herself." Ember says beside me.

"You don't know that." Another Man says climbing to his feet. "I can still feel the tether linking us to her, it's just... faint."

His words brought me some form of comfort to my heart. "Good, because your Luna, dead or alive, is going to lead us directly to their hidden camp." I say making my way inside to find the two Betta's. I ignore the way my stomach twists as the word dead, and continue on. I will be of no use to her if I give up. We have innocent lives to save, and I plan on retrieving my son, his mate and all the others.

Viren's POV:

Velvety red carpets line the clean hallways, golden picture frames depicting random scenery brighten up the white walls, and the smell of mould, dirt and blood was surprisingly lacking from the air.

"I must say, everything is quite.. clean."

Jeff snorts, the sound, a clear indication his guard has dropped. "Yes well you know Margo. Everything needs to be perfect."

"Yes indeed I do. I guess he was spending more time here than I first assumed. Speaking of, where are we exactly?"
Jeff's smirk is unnerving as he slides open a sheet blocking the way. "The outskirts of Byron's pack. Specifically a cliff that's almost impossible to get to."

I let my eyes widen, after all I was genuinely surprised. "Don't worry no one will find us here. Camp is situated on a high cliff. We are surrounded by sharp jagged rocks on the left, and an unforgiving ocean on the right. Anyone foolish enough to jump will no doubt die upon impact."

"Impressive." I say swallowing down my disappointment.
"Yes, and be rest assured our pack witch is much stronger than Renalda, speaking of, she should be arriving shortly with Margo and the others."
"Who are the others?" I ask genuinely curious.

Jeff smirks. "If all goes to plan, Blue."

I discreetly grit my teeth. If they lay one finger on my mate, I don't care who is around, I will fight them all. I'll burn this place to the ground until there is nothing left.
