Viren's POV:

I watch my mate burst into her large wolf. She appeared white at first, but looking closely I could see her fluffy white fur was an extremely pale blue, lighter than her hair and eyes.

The strands in her large orbs shimmered with shades of blue in comparison to her pale fur. I couldn't help but stare, as they caught the moonlight making her look like a goddess. Someone too good for this earth.

She stood tall and proud with a fierceness in her eyes I hadn't seen before. Then again, it was the first time seeing her wolf other than our first encounter by the river. I doubt it counts though, as she was invisible at the time.

Silence blankets the crowded clearing, not a whisper or rustling leaf to be heard. The stars and moon paint the sky, lighting the patch of grass my mate stood on, like a spotlight. It was as though the moon goddess herself was looking down on us.

Chris finally shakes himself free of his shock, his eyes suddenly focused on the prize. How dare he challenge my mate for the Alpha position. By right if she declines it should go to Layla, or Max being the next in line.
Someone who also has Alpha blood running through their veins. Any other pack would be fighting to the death, but if there is one thing I know about Jaycee, it's that she believes in preserving life. She prefers to give people second chances.

Clumps of dirt and grass fly into the onlookers behind Chris, as he transforms into his light brown wolf. His wolf was smaller than Jaycee's but his muscles were on display. He wastes no time, charging straight for my mate who doesn't move a muscle. My eyes widen and I take a sharp intake of breath. I do my best to keep our bond closed so Jaycee can concentrate. The last thing she needed was my emotions of worry distracting her.

As Chris lunges straight for her throat Jaycee ducks her head at the last second. Chris wolf passes over Jaycee's head before she raises her head powerfully into his ribs. A resounding crack is heard as he is airborne, before landing flat onto his back.

His wolf whimpers as he rolls to his side, trying his best to get up but failing miserably. Jaycee sits down on her back legs wagging her tail, rather than taking advantage of his vulnerable position. It was a show of confidence and in a way, she was mocking him. I smirk admiring her wolf.

He shakily pushes himself upright with a loud growl. His anger taking control numbing some of his pain. Broken ribs are sometimes the worst as it effects every movement and breath. It was evident in his laboured breaths and the way he favoured his left side, that he wasn't going to have speed on his side.

As Chris goes for her front paw this time, Jaycee simply moves it back. Her speed far surpassing Chris's as his nose and teeth hit the ground. Before he has a chance to move back, the paw she rested against her stomach was used to claw his face narrowly missing his right eye.

Looking at her wolfy grin, I would guess she purposefully missed it, but got close enough to make him panic.

Four large gashes fill with blood. The sight making my gums tingle with need but I push the sensation away.

Layla and Coal gasp to my right, seeing Cassy barrel her way through the onlookers, her eyes flashing a brighter shade of red, her sights set on Chris and his bleeding wounds. His eyes widen as her fangs descend, but to my surprise Jaycee shoves her arm between Chris's throat and Cassy's fangs.

I growl out in anger but Laylas hand darts out landing on my shoulder.

"She's trying to help Cassy. If she happens to drain a pack member dry, she can be banished. If the victim is Jay, she has the right to pardon her. She is not the first hybrid to loose control so the Luna made it so the victim decides if they can forgive them. Cassy won't drain her dry, just wait it out."
