Jaycee's POV:

I'm frozen, terrified and unable to will my body to move. The lump in my throat too painful and large to swallow.

"Darling you need to breath." Viren whispers, now having moved from his seat to my feet, as Arial stands by the door frowning at why we have yet to move. How could she be so desensitised to this?

Viren kneels before me, lowering himself down to my level. He takes a slow deep breath willing me to do the same and only after a take a much needed breath does he hum in approval.

"I'll be right by your side the entire time. If you need me to go in first, I will do anything for you. You know that."

I nod my head feeling the way he sends all his feelings through our bond. He doesn't hide away his fear, his nervousness or the small ripple of hurt from me. "Just please don't shut me out." He whispers and I realise the hurt is because of my actions. Once again, even marked I have tried to spare him from my pain only to cause it.

I drop the obsidian wall, allowing it to crumble from within. All my emotions shoot through the bond, all different shades and colours as they merge and clash against one another. To my surprise Viren's shoulders drop with relief rather than tense up with stress.

I allow my mates warm hands to
guide me from my chair and out the door, following Arial as the clicking of her heels, echoes down the many corridors and elevators we take.

Intricate paintings of flowers and animals brighten the full white walls splashing the blank canvas with some much needed colour. Arial stoops suddenly by the door hesitating for a moment as the sound of laughter fills the air. It was light and sweet.

My feet move on their own not waiting for anyone before stepping through the open door, drawn to the light airy sound. Another fit of laughter sounds and my lips lift up on their own.
A little girl with a head full of tight brown curls throws her head back, her laughter penetrating through my heart even without seeing into her eyes. Brown eyes that are focused on the man dressed up in clothes much larger than his size, a rainbow wig, red plastic nose and white face paint that looked to have been melting off his face.

Any other child would have ran for the hills but not this little girl. "They call me daddy clown!" He bellows launching forward ticking the little girl until another fit of laughter bursts out of her tiny lungs. Her limbs flail unable to control herself due to the sensations.

The man pauses, head snapping up as though only just noticing our presence. His eyes widen as he remove his wig holding it against his chest before he takes a hesitant step my way. the girl tilts her head in curiosity watching her fathers odd behaviour.

Without warning he drops to the floor his forehead touching the light grey tiles as his hands outstretch until his fingers graze the tips of my shoes. His body shakes and I stand frozen unsure what to make of the odd behaviour. The sound of sobbing draws me in and I realise he is crying. Mumbling something on repeat but with the floor drowning out the words I'm unable to make them out.

I reach down until I am sitting on my knees and place a gentle hand on his shoulder. He allows me to lift his upper body until I am looking into his glassy blue eyes.

"Thank you." He cry's the emotion in his eyes pulling at my heart strings until tears are falling from my own eyes. The sheer relief and gratitude mixed with the fear and sadness that had been drowning him, has me taking a shaky breath, unsure of what to say.

"You.. you somehow saved her. You're so much like your mother." He says, streaks of tears washing away the white face paint on his cheeks. "You saved my little girl."
