Viren's POV:

My beautiful little mate wanted to play. My beast and I held in our groan at her suggestive words but I remind my beast that it was her wolf that was eager for us. Jaycee, although warming up to us, still may not be ready for such tempting thoughts.

We still couldn't help the smirk that crossed our face, or the blood that rushed below our belt.  "Our mate has no idea of the effect she has on us." I say watching my beasts crazed reaction.

He has been fighting between his instincts to claim our mate, make love to her until she screams our name, and his instinct to feed. He wanted so desperately to sink his teeth into her neck, something he hasn't had the pleasure of doing, however to do so, would mean to mark her, something we didn't think she was quite ready for.

Since tasting Jaycee all those weeks ago, my beast and I had been increasingly unhappy with just any blood. Watching my mate willing feed Cassy to protect her friend angered me at first for protective reasons, and then once I knew my mate was safe, I became envious of Cassy.

Unable to resist the lure of my mate, I sucked on the delicate flesh where I would one day mark her. My gums tingled with anticipation as a shudder went up Jaycees spine.

"Tonight little mate, I will present you with whatever menu your heart desires. I must ask though, will you be willing to do the same? I too hunger for something not on the menu."

Her gasp was soft, a sound carried delicately by the fleeting breeze was all I heard before someone popped our little bubble.

I growl out in annoyance at the person who runs into me, making me almost nock my darling mate to the floor. I turn sharply ready to give them a peace of my mind however stop suddenly at the sight before me.

Coal stood there disheveled. His hair was a mess of silver upon his head, the thin braids loose and messy, lips swollen, however it was his eyes that had my words freeze in my throat. Particularly the lack of green in them.

"Coal, what's wrong?" I ask, seeing the crazed desperation to flee in his eyes.

"We need to leave now!" He growls out, the eyes of his beast flashing as the sound of his beast merges with his own.

Panic seizes me in it's cold embrace, adrenaline injecting itself into my bloodstream realising how badly this could all end. His beast was taking control and Coal only had minutes to put distance between the unaware pack members and his dragon.
Coal doesn't waste time or wait for me as he takes of running full speed towards the training facility. I turn to my mate who no doubt had felt my panic through our bond. I hadn't even thought to block her out. Either way she was looking intently into my eyes now.

"I'm sorry, I need to go." I say before following my best friends dissipating scent, away from the crowd and our mates.

Jaycee's POV:

Viren's reaction to Coal when he barreled into us, changed as if someone flipped a switch. He went from annoyed to angry that someone had interrupted our moment, to instant terrified panic, making me feel breathless and light headed.

As I watch my mate run off into the distance, Layla followed by Sadie and Cassy came to an abrupt stop beside me. The three girls leaned their hands on their knees, puffing as if they had just ran a marathon.

"Where... where did.. he go?" Layla huffs out, her head swiveling into various directions as she tries to pick her mates scent up. With the amount of people and food surrounding us it wasn't going to be easy for her.

I cross my arms. "What did you do to Coal?" I ask realising his odd behaviour was triggered by my best friend. "Whatever it is must be bad to have my mate reacting the way he did. Spill." I demand.
