Viren's POV:

"Being raped.. by your mate."

The control I had over our dream state vanished the second Jaycee's words left her mouth. I flung from my laying position near the campfire, gasping for air that never came. Was this what a panic attack felt like? My hands and knees hit the ground, fingers gripping the loose soil.
"Hey hey hey! What's wrong? Breathe, just breathe like me." Coals voice filled my ears but it was too hard to mimic his slow deep breaths.

Strangled gasps emerged from my mouth, as black spots began to appear in my vision. Before I could pass out, pain blossomed on my left cheek making my beast growl out viciously. He took control of our body since I could not.
He returned Coal's punch only for him to dodge it. Punch after punch, and swipe after kick, had unknowingly helped me focus on something else, allowing my breathing to return to normal. I reveled in the movements and burn of my muscles, not bothering to stop. It has been too long since I trained and this was a great opportunity to practice and prepare for what awaited us in a few short days. It was also an outlet to all my pent up tension.

I told Jaycee to give me two days because I knew she couldn't take much more, and I believed it was achievable. Today Coal and I would aid Alexa and Zander in relocating the hybrid families, ensuring to be ready in time for dinner with my father.
"Ready to tell me what the hell just happened?" Coal said avoiding another punch.

"I visited Jaycee." I grunt out before launching another attack. This time I hit my mark, sending Coal flying back into a sturdy tree. Other than the sound of groaning wood, the massive trunk looked fine.
Coal's gaze briefly flickered to where I knew the empty vile laid in the dirt, before looking my way. A look of sympathy flashed across his face before he masked it.
"How.. is she?" Coal says taking advantage of the distraction. He landed a solid kick to my side.

"She's broken."

"I know it feels this way now, but once you show her the truth-"

"Not this time Coal." I stop fighting and sit down by the fire. Running both my hands through my natural purple hair, tugging at the strands, I take a deep breath. "She admitted something to me Coal. Something that changes everything." My breathing pics up as the same feeling begins to return. Coal slaps a hand on my shoulder squeezing it firmly.
"What did she say?" Coals eyes penetrate my walls, as he takes in the state of me. I don't remember a time I felt this helpless and fearful. I could feel my beasts sadness, and fear at the idea of loosing her, and wondered if I could have done anything differently. Anything else would have been too risky. I knew this yet the guilt was eating me alive.

"She told me it wasn't the rape that has destroyed her, but the fact that it was her mate who raped her."

Coal stiffened beside me, eyes wide. "Yeah I'm pretty sure that's how I looked before my panic attack kicked in." I say trying to lighten the mood.

"Fuck.."

I nod. That's one word for it. "Worst part is, I should have known. When she fed us her blood it was addictive. Then we kissed for the first time and it was like fireworks. Little warm sparks exploded everywhere we touched, yet I couldn't bring myself to entertain the possibility. It was the first time my beast had taken control and didn't kill the person standing in front of him. I should have questioned it, when all he wanted to do, was mate with her. There were so many signs. " I frown out in frustration. "To make matters worse, I also erased her memory when she figured out I was also a vampire. She handled the news better than anything I could have imagined, but I panicked." At the rate I was tugging my hair, I was going to be bold by morning.
"Your right Viren. I won't sugar coat it, there are a lot of secrets between you, however everything you did was to protect her and rescue as many prisoners as possible. If it wasn't for your feelings for Jaycee, you probably would have waited until you managed to unlock the second location in the folder. The fact you are willing to make a move now, says a lot about you."
