Jaycee's POV:

The moment Sadie, Jet and Layla vanish from Coals room, I make quick work of changing the bed sheets and cleaning up.

After seeing Coal at the hospital, he requested to be one of the guards positioned closest to the safe house. I noticed how drawn he was to Layla's side, always coming and going, however since she had fallen back asleep, his touch stopped bringing the much needed relief it once did. He struggled staying with her long, letting his guilt consume him. I could feel the it ate away at him. He didn't know what else to do so he kept himself busy.

Coal felt like he didn't deserve to be in her presence, and despite how many times Sadie and I said otherwise, he didn't believe our words. I could see it in his eyes. The way the yellow in his yellow green eyes dimmed. His beast was hurting and worse than that, he was blaming himself and locking himself away.

Shaking my thoughts of Coal and Layla from my mind, they seem to go back onto my mate. It had been around an hour since Viren, Alessia and Crim had left the pack and I wondered how they were doing.

After ending the mindlink with Arial ten minutes ago, I couldn't wait to see what was it was that caused her reaction. There were only a handful of people that could demand silence from Arial. I was adamant it wasn't Viren, which leaves either my grandmother who was down in the safe house, or my parents who I hadn't seen for a long while.

The last time I saw my father he excused himself from the alphas office, his eyes shimmering with intense worry and fear. My mother had been on bed rest so it must have something to do with her and the baby.

Picking up my speed I throw open the doors, startling the receptionist as her hot steaming cup of tea splatters all over her wrist. She hisses out in pain before setting the tea cup down. "Good afternoon Luna, how can I help you?"

I look over to the red splotches over her pasty skin and frown. "Sorry I was lost in my own worries and didn't mean to startle you." I say sending a bust of warm healing magic over her wrist. I hadn't needed to touch the skin, much like with what I had done to Jet, though I also wasn't as close to her as I was with him.
My powers were growing, morphing into a weapon controlled solely by my desires. I didn't have to touch flesh to heal it now.

The pain I consumed when healing others, was nothing more than a pin prick in comparison to the endless pain I had endured over the years. It has dulled substantially since being marked, and I no longer seem to get those horrid child shivers from using my healing magic.

I wondered if Viren realises how much I truly need him. How much he helps me without even realising it. He was the yin to my yang, the anger to my calm, the hot to my cold and together we somehow balanced eachother out.

"Thanks Luna." The receptionist sighed drawing my attention back to her. "Arial mentioned you would be arriving and requested I escort you to her."

I nod following behind the petite woman. The sound of her black heels clicking against the porcelain tiles. We step into the elevator as she presses the third level. I feel the metal box shift before we ascend and hear the ping of the elevated as the doors begin to open.

I freeze at the sound of screaming. The sound familiar yet not. It was guttural yet feminine and I hadn't realised I stopped walking until the receptions placed a gentle hand on my shoulder. "Right this way Luna."

I follow as yet another scream makes my heart rate spike. With determination I pick up my pace until we are standing in front of a room with the number seven on it.

The small window was blacked out but I didn't have to wonder what was behind the door for long, as the receptionist I hadn't met before, turns the handle and pushes the door open.
