Chapter 86 - Sleeping Beauty

Viren's POV:

To my relief, dinner was served and accompanying it, was a glass full of blood. It was nowhere near enough to stop my cravings, but it was a start and I was less likely bite someone's head off.

"I need to know where Jaycee is? Is she okay?" I ask turning my attention away from the food in my plate and towards Zander and Alexa.
"She is.. alive." Zander replied, though his eyes were solely on his mate who looked distant as if lost in her own world.

"How.. I felt our bond snap?"
Zander swallowed, his eyes never leaving Alexa's, though he made no move to speak. His expressions held a mix of helplessness and disappear. As a tear slid down Alexa's face, the only tell of her pain, he abruptly stood and carried her up the stairs and into their room.
"Alexa took a potion." Ed begins, looking to also be fighting back tears. "One that would trade her life for Jaycee's. During her panic she hadn't taken a second to realise how it could all go wrong."

I frowned. "Wrong? They are both somehow alive, last I checked it's always a life for a life? Keeping that in mind, I don't understand how Jaycee gave her life for Max's." I whisper the last part more time myself. "There we're no potions."

Ed looked me in the eyes, realisation blooming in his. There is a critical piece of information I am missing.
"Luna Alexa was pregnant with twins. Jaycee was actually the one who announced it to Zander, Alexa suspected but was in denial. She is.. no, was pregnant with a daughter and a son." My eyes widen. "Her baby girl was born as Jaycee's heart began beating, leaving only her son."

I felt terrible for Alexa, and even more terrible when a sliver of relief fluttered within me, knowing she was able to save my mate at any cost.

Ed went on to explain in detail what happened once I passed out, including Zander and Coals fight and how Coal was only on defensive trying to explain the situation. It explained why Zander looked fine, and why Coal was still recovering.

"You should also know Jaycee was physically healed, but remains unconscious." I could tell there was more Ed wasn't telling me, but I was eager to see my mate. Just as I took a stand from my seat Coals hand shot out to stop me.

Once seated again, Coal turned and addressed the group. "As promised this folder has everything we need to find the second location. Usually I would have liked Zander and Alexa to be present, however I'm sure Max, Ed and I can figure it all out and fill everyone else in tomorrow."

"I've seen this once. It requires the owners finger print and fresh blood sample in order to open. How did you intend to open it?" Alessia asked Coal. He grinned enjoying Alessia being clueless for a change, as did Alessia. The way her eyes sparked with curiosity reminded me how rare surprises were for her.
"With this." As Coal lifted the bag containing Margo's finger, the woman beside him began gagging before throwing up all over the floor. My eyes weren't the only ones to widen isn surprise. It was a good thing her thick black hair was tightly braided, or she would have had more of a mess to clean up.

"Jessy, are you okay?" Max rushed to help clean her up, as Ben and Ella began cleaning the floor. "I'll meet you in Beta Ed's office in an hour, I need to attend to my mate."

Coal gave Max a nod before they too we're making their way up the stairs. Jess's small baby bump visible as they went.

"Here Ed, mind this folder with your life. I'll meet you in your office in an hour. I'm going to go with Viren to see Jaycee before he explodes.
