Viren's POV:

I couldn't help but keep an eye on my mate. She was wearing a top, the colour similar to the leather jacket I wore, and black leggings. She stood out in the crowed as the guys wore shorts and the girls crop tops with shorts. It was already proving to be a hot day and it was only the morning.

"You know if you keep watching her someone is going to notice." Coal says leaning towards me.

"true, let's switch." I say mannoucering our bodies so my back was to her and Coals was face of her. He raises a brow. "Seriously." He asked with an eyebrow raised.

I gove him a look before replying. "Yes seriously. Laylas close to Jaycee so two birds."

I see Coals eyes light up as he scans his surroundings, before his eyes land on who I assume was Layla. I watched as his focus would be on Jaycee, only to occasionally move to his mate. Can't really blame the guy, these mate bonds don't muck around.

"Okay don't look now, but Jaycee looks to be crying."

I turn unable to stop myself. My beast and I drowning with the need to comfort our mate but being unable to. It really is a form of torture.

I stumble as Cassy brushes past me, nocking my shoulder out of her way in the process. I watch as her hand lands forcefully on Jessy's shoulder from behind, spinning her roughly towards her.

I notice the way Jaycees aura flashes and have just enough time to jump in front of it, throwing Cassy backwards in the process. I recognised the way it looks from when Layla was hit. Being Jaycees mate, meant I can handle what ever it is she has to throw my way, but more than that I couldn't stand the idea of Jaycees guilt eating her up, the way it did when she hurt Layla.

A charged zap of lightning shoots straight through me, momentarily leaving me dazed and confused. Black spots fill my vision as my hearing disappears apart from a high pitch ringing in my ears.

"You're welcome.." I say the moment my senses return.

"Oh yeah, thanks. I have to ask.. why did you take that hit for me?"

I frown not wanting to admit the whole truth, not wanting to draw my attention to myself. "Trust me it wasn't just for your benefit." I say walking towards Coal.

"Okay now that everyone is okay and warmed up, let's get back to training. Pick your partners." I hear Alpha Zander say.

My eyes land on Jaycee and she is looking everywhere but me, a frown etched into her beautiful face.

As her eyes meet mine my heart does a flip and I wonder how I'm meant to fight with her. "We can't hurt mate." My beast says agreeing with my thoughts.

"Chris." Jaycee whispers and I turn to notice the rude kid from breakfast standing beside Me.
He smile at her and I wanted nothing more than to wipe it of his face.

"I'm flattered you remember me Jaycee. I heard the people who abducted you and the other girls had your memories erased. I challenge you."

I grit my teeth. I had to watch some of her training earlier with Zander, and it was almost impossible to hold myself back. If another male hurt her I wasn't sure I could restrain myself."No, I challenge Jaycee, you can sit this one out." I say stepping forward. I send a menacing glare Chris's way for good measure ensuring he backs off.

"Salvator." Zanders voice sounds from behind me. "After the hit you just took for Cassy, it makes sense for you to have a small break. Chris is one of our top warriors so it will be a good lesson for my daughter."
It takes everything in me not to lash out at Zander. Does he not understand what he is asking me to do. Would he be able to do the same if the situation was reverst?"
