Sadie's POV:

My lungs were screaming and my young body wasn't used to using my transporting gift to this extent. To put it into perspective, transporting myself felt as easy as running 200 meters. Transporting an extra person felt as if I was carrying themselves on my back for double that. Now every time I didn't rest and continued to transport another person, they felt heavier and the distance I ran, felt longer. By the end of it, transporting five people as well as Layla and aunt Alexa who was unable to fight at this time, was no easy feat. It took longer than I'd like considering my father could transport a whole army with a single thought, and only need to rest for a minute or two. I'd need to wait for my eighteenth birthday before my true powers and endurance kick in. Only then will I continue to grow and become stronger. For now this will have to do.

My eyes watered at the thought of Max. My vision was clear back at the tent. They were all heavily outnumbered struggling to fight off the countless rogues. I could see the Warewolf council man named Byron was working with Jeff and controlling the rogues. They must have promised them something they couldn't refuse for them to have so many numbers.

Shock filled me when I noticed the odd hunter with them. I've heard of them, though they have never come this close to pack lands. They tend to pick off the rogues who cause trouble near human towns. They know packs are of no threats to humans, many packs like ours choose to protect towns nearby and live in peace with them, so it surprised me when one stepped forward with a silver rifle.

Their bullets were hollow consisting of a silver 9mm case. They were filled entirely of wolfsbane that was designed to travel through the bloodstream if the bullet missed its fatal target. It would keep a wolf weak enough to capture even if the bullet was able to be fished out of the flesh and discarded. Our wolves would be too weak to shift and have no access to our fast healing leaving us weak and essentially human.

It was designed to be light, enabling it to travel fast enough to break the sound barrier. It had to be fast or we would be able to evade every one with our increased speed. It's why the silver was only on the outside. If not hollow, the silver would weigh more than the wolfsbane making it slower.

It was as though I was the hunter looking through his scope. His sights always locked on Jaycee, moving as she moved. In every possibility flashing before my eyes, it was her he aimed at. She was his target even though she was the only one who hadn't actually ended any lives.

"Do it." The sound of Jeff's unmistakable voice filled the mans ears. He turned off the safety making a quiet click resound, before pulling the trigger. Max's head jerked towards the sound as the bullet was fired. Max waisted no time stepping in front of Jaycee. There was nothing but acceptance in his eyes as it embeds itself in his heart.

He didn't gasp for air or clutch at his chest. He stood there silently before Jaycee caught his weakening form. The bright eyes of his beast dimmed as a single tear fell from his eye. ...

"Are you okay darling?" My eyes opened to the worried look my aunt Alexa was giving me. It was only then I realised my face was wet from countless tears. My mother appeared before me with a look of understanding. Her eyes held pain if you knew where to look, but she hid her reactions to her visions better than I.

"It's Max. He is sacrificing himself for Jaycee as we speak."

My aunties eyes began to tear before rage and annoyance lined her features. "I could have taken them all if I was at full strength. My body never responded this way when I was pregnant with Jaycee. I feel so.. weak and useless." She growled out.

My mums gasp drew my attention to her at the same time my father appeared. I knew she had another vision and had summoned him. He must have been out of the meeting to hear her.
