Viren's POV:
Time passed quickly once I left Jaycees room. I met with Mali who seemed happier after meeting with her mother. She checked over my fully healed wound s and seemed surprised but pleased with the lack of scaring.
"I heal quick."
"I can see that, it must be nice." Mali replied looking at me sceptically.
"It has it perks." I reply."So tell me how you ended up working for Margo, and how is it you know my families lullaby."
I smiled. "You first. How did you start working for Margo?" I ask watching her hesitate.
"I'm sure you have already figured out it wasn't willingly. My mother was captured many years ago and met her mate who was also one of the prisoners. They kept them grouped up in large cells, but kept them all weak. Mum fell pregnant with me and when they realised, they killed him. Over the years they used my life as leverage, making her do many horrible things she didn't want to do. Once a year they would allow her to see me for a short period of time to prove I was still alive."
"When did they start using your powers?" I ask curiously.
"As soon as I turned eighteen Margo felt my powers exceed that of my mothers, and so here I am." She breathed, sadness painting her face before she wiped her expressions. "Either way, after tonight the camp will be impenitrable for another month which gives Margo more than enough time to move everyone to a permanent underground location. We will finally be free."
I frowned. "Free?"
"Yes, Margo has assured us as soon as we do this last thing for him, he will release us."
I scoff. "Tell me you aren't that blind?" I whisper, causing Mali to take a startled step back. "Margo's way of releasing those who have worked for him, are by eliminating them. Sometimes he takes their power first if he can convince them to give them up before killing them. It has to be a willing release so it's not often something he succeeds in. He leaves no loose ends. As for the lullaby, lucky for you I have arrived when I have."
"Who exactly are you?" She asks taking me in again.
I smirk before leaning forward. "It's easier to show you." I lean my forehead against hers, allowing my memories to penetrate her mind. A perk thanks to my Royal blood line. I show her me as Salvator, images of my mother singing that song to me as a child, and memories of meeting my father. Mali gasps, her wide blue eyes unblinking as she stares at me in shock.
The door opens making us take an startled step back from one another. "Mali we need to-" Renalda's quick hushed words are cut off when she notices me, her face paling by the second. "V.. Viren? Apologies I didn't know you were here."
I nod her way before turning back to Mali. "Think about what I said, I believe our goals may align. I'll meet you in the clearing in five minutes, dont be late."
I exit the room and spot Margo heading towards the clearing. After we had left Jaycees room, Margo to my surprise didn't so much as yell at me once. He instead, seemed rather quiet and could help but stare at the blood surrounding my fresh mark.
I had explained how my beast took over, and how powerless we felt after being marked by her, powerless to fight the pull of a mating mark, however he simply dismissed my words seeming to understand. I didn't buy it though... not one bit."He is loosing faith in us." My beast says, confirming my suspicions also.
"Even if he trusted us before, being mated to Jaycee against my will or not, is a weakness and a loose end that needs to be tied. Margo doesn't like having weaknesses, he simply eliminates them." I say for the second time this evening.
